ADG of NCC Major General Gagan Deep address cadets of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat’ camp in Silchar

way2barak, Dec.9: It was indeed an honour and pride for all Cadets and staff at Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat Camp Silchar to welcome Additional Director General, Major General Gagan Deep who took over the reins of NCC of entire North Eastern Region on 1 December 2022, and his maiden visit to the camp.

The General has a vast experience, having tenanted various challenging command, instructional and staff appointments in different terrains and operational areas. An alumnus of Sainik School, Kunjpura and prestigious National Defence Academy, Pune, he was commissioned into the JAT Regiment in June 1991. He commanded an Infantry Battalion in North Sikkim and a Mountain Brigade in Agia, Assam in Counter Insurgency Operations.

He has also tenanted numerous staff appointments in Counter Insurgency Areas to include, General Staff Officer of an Infantry Brigade and an Infantry Division, Brigadier General Staff of a Corps besides important staff assignments at Army Headquarters including that of Military Advisor to the Vice Chief of Army Staff and Director of Foreign Division in Military Intelligence Directorate.

He has served extensively in Northern and North-Eastern theatres and his career record includes excellence in all prestigious Army courses to include Defence Services Staff College at Wellington, Higher Command course at Mhow and National Defence College, Delhi. He is an avid Golfer and a keen sportsman having excelled in water polo, hockey and basketball.

The General officer who is also an NCC Alumni said that Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat Camp at Silchar was an apt platform for interaction between the cadets of all Northeastern states and Rajasthan. Highlighting the strength of our rich cultural heritage and the the mantra of unity in diversity, he exhorted cadets to wholeheartedly participate in all events and interact with cadets of other states to learn their best practices. He also witnessed some of the joint cultural performances and appreciated the innovative idea of Northeastern cadets participating in Kalabeliya dance of Rajasthan and cadets of Rajasthan performing Bihu dance. This cultural connect will be etched in the memories of all forever, he said and the cadets must take this bond further to strengthen the unity of the nation because unity is directly proportion to development.
