অধ্যক্ষকেই দোষারোপ করল এসিটিএ, স্বদেশ দাসকে এফআইআরের পরামর্শ
ACTA condemns alleged physical assault on Swadesh Das, asks him to lodge FIR

ওয়েটুবরাক, 24 আগস্ট ঃ চতুর্থ শ্রেণির নিযুক্তি পরীক্ষা ঘিরে কাছাড় কলেজের অধ্যক্ষ গ্রেফতার এবং দর্শনশাস্ত্রের বিভাগীয় প্রধানকে শারীরিক নিগ্রহের ঘটনায় আসাম কলেজ টিচারস অ্যাসোসিয়েশন (এসিটিএ)-র ভূমিকা নিয়ে চারদিন ধরেই প্রশ্ন উঠছিল। রবিবারই কলেজ শিক্ষক সংগঠনের সভাপতি হিমাংশু মরাল সোশ্যাল মিডিয়ায় অধ্যক্ষ গ্রেফতারে সন্তোষ প্রকাশ করেছিলেন। ‘এ বার বুঝবে ঠ্যালা’ জাতীয় মন্তব্যও করেছিলেন। কিন্তু একে তাঁর ব্যক্তিগত মন্তব্য ধরে সবাই অপেক্ষা করছিলেন সংগঠনের সিদ্ধান্তের দিকে।

অবশেষে বুধবার বিবৃতি প্রকাশ করেছে এসিটিএ। সভাপতি হিমাংশু মরাল ও সাধারণ সম্পাদক ড. জয়ন্ত বরুয়া স্বাক্ষরিত বিবৃতিতেও অধ্যক্ষ ড. সিদ্ধার্থশংকর নাথকেই দোষারোপ করা হয়েছে।  জেলাশাসকের কথা সোজাসুজি উল্লেখ না করে বিবৃতিতে বলা হয়েছে, জেলা প্রশাসন কর্তৃক কাছাড় কলেজের সহযোগী অধ্যাপক স্বদেশরঞ্জন দাসকে শারীরিক নিগ্রহের ঘটনার নিন্দা জানায় এসিটিএ। তাঁদের কথায়, কর্তব্যে গাফিলতির অভিযোগে শৃঙ্খলাভঙ্গজনিত ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণের অধিকার রয়েছে জেলা প্রশাসনের। কিন্তু তাই বলে কোনও আইনই গায়ে হাত তোলার অধিকার দেয়নি। তাই এসিটিএ এই বেআইনি ঘটনার উচ্চ পর্যায়ের তদন্ত দাবি করে এবং স্বদেশবাবুকে এই ইস্যুতে এফআইআর করতে পরামর্শ দেওয়া হয়।

কিন্তু কেন এমন ঘটনা ঘটল, সবকিছু খতিয়ে দেখে কলেজ শিক্ষকদের সংগঠন কাছাড় কলেজের অধ্যক্ষকেই দায়ী করেছে। হিমাংশু মরাল ও জয়ন্ত বরুয়া এর কারণ উল্লেখ করে বলেন, অধ্যক্ষ নাথ স্বদেশবাবুকে প্রশ্নপত্র আনতে নির্দেশ দিলেও এসওপি-তে যে সময় বেঁধে দেওয়া হয়েছিল, সেই সময়ের মধ্যেই সেগুলি সংগ্রহ করতে হবে, এমনটা তাঁকে জানাননি। তাঁদের কথায়, এই অধ্যক্ষ একজন “কেয়ারলেস”, “অ্যারোগেন্ট” এবং “হুইমজিক্যাল এটিচ্যুডে”র মানুষ। তাঁর জন্যই এমন দুর্ভাগ্যজনক ঘটনা ঘটল। তিনি জেলা প্রশাসনের এসওপি মানার কথা অস্বীকার করাটাই হলো সমস্ত কিছুর মূলে।

বিবৃতিতে আরও বলা হয়েছে, অধ্যক্ষ নাথের এই ধরনের আচরণের দরুন তিনি যেদিন থেকে কলেজে যোগ দিয়েছেন সেদিন থেকে বহু কলেজশিক্ষক অপদস্ত হচ্ছেন।  মানসিক অস্বস্তির মধ্যে কাজ করতে হয় তাঁদের। তাই শুধু এই ঘটনা নয়, স্বদেশরঞ্জন দাস সহ এই কলেজের শিক্ষকরা যে অপমানিত হচ্ছেন, সে সবেরও বিচার চেয়েছে এসিটিএ, যাতে তাঁরা কলেজে মর্যাদার সঙ্গে এবং মানসিক স্বস্তিতে অধ্যাপনার কাজটুকু করতে পারেন।

জেলা প্রশাসন কর্তৃক স্বদেশরঞ্জন দাসকে অপদস্ত করার ঘটনার প্রতিবাদে এসিটিএ-র কাছাড় জোনের সদস্যরা আগামী ২৬ আগস্ট কালো ব্যাজ পরিধান করবে বলে সিদ্ধান্ত জানিয়েছে এসিটিএ-র কেন্দ্রীয় সমিতি। তবে এই কালো ব্যাজে একই সঙ্গে প্রতিবাদ জানানো হবে কাছাড় কলেজের অধ্যক্ষ ড. সিদ্ধান্তশংকর নাথের দুর্ব্যহার এবং অন্যায় আচরণেরও।

Aug. 24: In view of the complications arising out of Grade III & Grade IV examinations held at Cachar College on 21 August, 2022, questions were raised on the silence of Assam College Teachers’ Association (ACTA). Finally, on Wednesday, ACTA Central Committee issued a press release from Guwahati into this matter of Cachar College, Silchar

In the said press release, Himangshu Maral and General Secretary Jayanta Baruah put forth their views as regards the untoward situation that took place on 21 August.

A) ACTA unequivocally condemn the alleged physical assault caused to our member Sri Swadesh Ranjan Das, Associate Prof, Cachar College by the District administration officials. District administration has the right to initiate disciplinary action against any officials for dereliction of duty, but no law allows it to assault anyone physically for such lapses. We demand high level enquiry to fix responsibilities for such illegal action, and call upon Sri Das to seek justice by lodging an FIR on the issue.

B) Sri Das was reportedly late to collect the question papers from the collection centre as he was not instructed by his principal to do so as per the Examination SOP timing fixed by the said office. The careless, arrogant and whimsical attitude of the Principal of Cachar College led to the said unfortunate incident. His blatant refusal to abide by the SOP fixed by the District administration is the root cause of the said problem.

C) As per information and evidence available with us, we state with a deep sense of indignation that the careless, arrogant and whimsical style of running the Cachar College in violation of relevant rules by its Principal Dr. Siddhartha Sankar Nath has caused harassment and severe mental agony to a number of teachers working there ever since he joined there.

D) We demand justice from the relevant authorities for Sri Swadesh Ranjan Das and our other colleagues of Cachar College, so that they are in a position to carry out their duties with dignity and mental peace.

E) We call upon the members of ACTA from the Cachar Zone to wear black badge on 26th August as a mark of protest against the District Administration and the Principal of Cachar College respectively for the aforesaid assault, misbehavior and injustice caused to Sri Swadesh Ranjan Das and other teachers of Cachar College.
