Academic year of 97 newly established model high schools in Assam’s tea garden to begin soon: CM

Government of Assam will open hundred more such 'Model Schools' at tea gardens

April 8: The academic year of 97 newly established model high schools in the tea garden areas of Assam will begin soon. It is in this connection that a virtual meeting with the Deputy Commissioners was held on Friday, which was chaired by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma. The Chief Minister was also joined by State Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu. Dr Sarma during the virtual trip reviewed the progress.

Dr Sarma further stated that the Government of Assam will open hundred more such ‘Model Schools’ at tea gardens. One school will cover four tea garden areas. In this regard, CM Assam directed officers to take the following steps:

  • Availability of adequate furniture, computers in newly established schools.
  • Recruitment of Grade IV staff at each school.
  • Make regular visits to schools; oversee & complete the admission process on time.
  • Ensure electricity connection at all schools on immediate basis.

  • Issue instruction of State Education Dept regarding constitution of School Management & Development Committee (SMDC). Committees are to be formed accordingly.
  • Bank accounts in the name of SMDC to be opened for all schools within seven days.
