Aadhaar enrolment for students formally launched in Cachar

Nov. 9: Aadhaar enrolment for students was ceremonially launched at Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School along with other districts of Assam here on Monday. As per Government of Assam instruction, SSA has been appointed as nodal agency for launching of Aadhaar enrolment of students from Classes I to XII. Accordingly, SSA, Cachar in collaboration with district administration launched the enrolment in Slchar Uban under the Deputy Inspector of Schools.

In the launching programme, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education) Rajib Roy, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Nodal officer for Aadhaar of Cachar District, Dr Khaleda Sultana ,Inspector of Schools,CDC, Silchar, Semina Yasmeen Ara Rahman, District Elementary Education Officer cum DMC Sumitra Dev, Deputy Inspector of Schools, Nurul Haque Mazarbhuiya, Principal of Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Soma Shyam, all District Programme Oficers, SSA and officials of DMO and block including block officials were present.

At the outset, all the dignitaries present on the dias were felicitated.with a “uttorio”. The programme was inaugurated by lighting of lamp by the dignitaries followed by chanting of “Baidik Mantra” by the students of Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School. Delivering the welcome address, District Elementary Education Officer, Sumitra Dev lauded the Government of India for its initiative of launching Aadhaar cards for school students and opined that their enrolment will be helpful to them in many ways. She urged the officials, who will be engaged in the enrolment work, to ensure the process is completed smoothly and on time.

Speaking on the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner cum Nodal Officer, Dr. Khaleda Sultana Ahmed assured all round support for implementation of Aadhaar enrolment for school students in the district. She urged Inspector of Schools and District Elementary Education Officer to make a good road map encompassing all schools so as to complete enrolment process in the stipulated time frame.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education), Rajib Roy said the enrollment programme is a great initiative taken by the Government and under this enrolment exercise around two lakh ninety five students will be covered under the eight educational blocks of Cachar district. “All the education officials including the principal, head teachers of all the schools covering government, provincialised, recognised, aided venture, private etc are requested to take active part and make the Aadhaar enrolment of students a grand success”, he added. He urged students to open their bank accounts and get their name enrolled in Aadhaar within the stipulated time.

Inspector of schools, Cachar,Semina Yasmeen Ara Rahman,Deputy Inspector of Schools, Nurul Haque Mazarbhuiya and Principal of Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Soma Shyam also spoke on the occasion. District Programme Officer, SSA, Dr. Bidyut Deb Choudhury and District Programmer, MIS, SSA, Prosenjit Paul pointed out that the Aadhaar enrolment for the students will be carried out by clubbing the schools as per cluster under all educational blocks and will cover all students accordingly.

Further, they highlighted that the students have to submit the prescribed valid documents for Aadhaar enrolment and in case the student do not have any documents, they have to submit another prescribed form which will be certified by the concerned head of institution and will be used as both proof of address and proof of identity.
It may be noted that on the very first day of Aadhaar card enrolment programme in the district, nine students of Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School got enrolled.
