A humble gesture of a family who distributed blankets among destitute wins heart of netizens
January 13: Nothing is more precious than a blanket for a poor in the icy cold wave and nothing is bigger charity than serving the poor. It was really an act of sincere benevolence to distribute warm blankets among the destitute facing intense cold wave. Blankets are often distributed among such poverty stricken homeless people by politicians, NGOs, organisations or rich business houses. However, when such an act of kindness is performed by a middle class family out of their social commitment, it indeed becomes a news to reckon with appreciation.
Such a benevolent act was performed by a family at Silchar comprising of a couple and their two children. Shyamal Bhuiya, his wife Debjani Bhuiya, their son Subhadeep Bhuiya and their daughter Subhashree Bhuiya did such a wonderful job, which would definitely inspire many more people to stand besides the poor and needy in their own humble way.
In a social media post, Advocate Debjani Bhuiya wrote, “To bring smile in few people’s face, our New Year 2020 begins with this noble cause and still continues….” On National Youth Day, when people were busy garlanding the statue of Swami Vivekananda, this one family came out silently in the night with a bunch of blankets and distributed them among the destitute in and around Silchar Railway Station at Tarapur. In the words of Swami Vivekananda, this noble family served the ‘living Gods’. This sweet gesture has won the heart of many netizens who have liked and commented on the Facebook post of Mrs. Bhuiya.
Advocate Bhuiya beautifully summed up her feelings in her social media post, where she wrote, “I believe that helping someone when they are in need is serving God, and to serve people, it is not always necessary that only NGOs and other organizations should come forward…… I believe that atleast helping one person, if we can will in the long run become productive for the society.” To help fulfill her dream of helping the poor, Debjani in her social media post thanked her husband and her children for supporting her.
Who knows, may be next time, when we wrap ourselves in a blanket during a cold winter night, the kindness depicted by the Bhuiya family of Silchar may come across our mind and it may inspire many more people to come out of their house and donate blankets to the poor and destitute !
