Covid cut short life of eminent priest Subodh Pandit of Malugram

June 26: Subodh Chandra Bhattacharjee was a household name not only in Silchar but in entire Barak Valley. He was the most eminent priest and was held in high esteem by all others of the same profession. After being detected as Covid-19 positive, he was admitted at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on 19 June. After battling the virus for a week, he finally breathed his last at 4.15 PM on 26 June. He was 86.

Subodh Pandit, as he was most popularly called, was a resident of Mahaprabhu Colony at Malugram, Silchar. He was an expert not only in Hindu priestly rituals but was also held in high esteem by many for his know-how on preparing horoscope.

Subodh Chandra Bhattacharjee left behind his wife Supriti Bhattacharjee, 3 daughters and a host of kith and kin. His death was mourned by many who knew him.
