2 more Covid-19 patients including a 5-year-old child die at SMCH on Monday

June 21: Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 20 June to 5 PM on 21 June) witnessed demise of 02 Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Out of the two deceased, one of them is from Cachar, while the other is from Karimganj . The deceased were identified as:

• Rakhal Chandra Dey (76) from Kathal Road in Cachar district was admitted at SMCH on 17 June. The patient, however, passed away at 8.15 AM on 21 June.
• Riaz-ul Haque (05) from Kanishail in Karimganj took admission in SMCH on 18 June. He breathed his last at 8.50 AM on 21 June.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 21 June, there were 122 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 71 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 51 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 10 patients were put under ventilator support and 92 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 15 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 26 of them were discharged.
