Dear citizens of Cachar District, Follow Covid protocols, appeals Cachar Police

June 17: Following the new Covid-19 guidelines issued by the state government on Tuesday, Cachar Police have now taken to the streets to ensure that the Covid protocols are meticulously followed. Taking to its twitter handle on Thursday, Cachar Police appealed, “Dear citizens of Cachar District, Follow Covid protocols.”

Action taken by Cachar Police on 16 June, 2021:

  • Fine realised for violation of protocols- Rs 2,97,500
  • Action taken against total violators- 211
  • Action against vehicles in violation of protocols- 36 bikes and 13 cars

On Thursday also, Cachar Police continued it’s action upon those who violated the Covid-19 guidelines issued by the state government. Fines were realised and action was taken against violators in various parts of Silchar.

On reviewing the situation of COVID-19 in the State, Assam Government on Tuesday came up with new guidelines in order to contain the further spread of coronavirus. The new guidelines stated that as the total number of cumulative cases and per day cases are still showing persistently high numbers in Cachar, so the district will be under close watch till 21 June, 2021. In case, there is no improvement in the COVID status in these districts, stricter restrictions may follow.

It needs mention here that on Wednesday, a total of 262 persons were found positive in Cachar. Also, 431 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has reached 2,375. At present, there are 2,192 active cases in the district.  It needs mention here that on Tuesday, 259 persons were detected as Covid-19 positive in Cachar.
