250 detected Covid +ve in Cachar till 6 PM on Friday, 3 deaths at SMCH

June 11: A total of 250 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 6 PM on Friday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 221 were found positive in Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT), whereas 29 others tested positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by DIPRO Cachar on Friday evening. It needs mention here that 359 persons were detected Covid-19 positive on Thursday.

Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 10 June to 5 PM on 11 June) witnessed demise of 03 Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Out of the 3 deceased, 02 are from Cachar, whereas 01 belongs to Hailakandi.

The deceased were identified as Bela Rani Sen (84) from Vivekananda Road, Silchar, Champalal Rabidas (68) from Jirighat in Cachar and Hira Majumdar (32) from Lakhinagar Part 2 in Hailakandi district.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 11 June, there were 201 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 87 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 114 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 23 patients were put under ventilator support and 142 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 23 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 32 of them were discharged. Further, 06 of them have opted for home isolation.
