CTET qualified candidates not likely to be appointed by Assam govt
May 30: Confusion prevailed in Assam as regards appointment of Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) qualified candidates to the government teacher posts of the state. It was a common perception among people that even the CTET qualified candidates are eligible to be appointed as teachers in the schools run by the state government.
However, Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu cleared the air and said that there are a huge number of Teacher Eligibity Test (TET Assam) qualified candidates in the state. So these candidates will be absorbed in the government teacher posts. The state government won’t be appointing candidates who had cleared CTET conducted by the centre. The minister, however, added that CTET candidates could only be appointed if there is dearth of Assam TET qualified candidates, which is not the situation at present.
