COVID Diary: On the path of recovery, writes Arundhati Dutta Choudhury

May 23: I am gradually recovering, crossing the valley of uncertainty, meandering through the miracle of science called ‘antibiotics ‘. Weakness, perhaps is another stronghold of Covid. But, one should still try to be at least mentally strong. No need to think about negative turns and I again believe 1. Early detection 2. Immediate medication 3. Doctor’s guidance 4. Healthy Diet and mental stamina can cure Covid to a considerable extent.

A Covid patient in isolation feels at terms with life that is neither spiral nor terrestrial but couped and cloistered. The severity of deadly viruse’s hunt many times stretches the mind to nostalgia and the rhythms of good old days. And I believe if you stretch to touch your golden memories, memories will instantly come to your aid. We store unending G.B.of memories and they are the chestnut trees, the ringing pathways of hope and blessings.

I apprehend my ribboned life once again beacon me to open the reel, I sense the incredible staircases leading me towards life’s second chance once again and I hope I shall overcome Covid. I entreat all to believe this simple fact that nothing is impossible because ‘a man can be destroyed but not defeated ‘ (Hemingway)

Though I am not an austere but I believe in Supreme benediction and so I keep my trust upon Her feet if she allows me another opportunity to serve my students, my community and a few more miles in the game of life once again. I dedicate the last leaf of my Covid Diary to that quote that always helps me to think differently:

“Courage is not the absence of fear, but, the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who doesn’t feel afraid, but, he who conquers the fear.” — *Nelson Mandela*
