Barak Valley registers 120 Covid-19 +ve cases on Sunday
April 25: The number of coronavirus positive cases are on the rise in Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Sunday, the number of fresh cases in the valley was somewhat less compared to the previous day. A total of 120 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day. It needs mention here that on Saturday, Barak Valley registered 138 positive cases.
Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Sunday in Barak Valley:
- Cachar: 108 positive cases (It was also 108 on Saturday)
- Karimganj: 09 positive cases (It was 21 on Saturday)
- Hailakandi: 03 positive cases (It was 09 on Saturday)
On Sunday, a total of a total of 108 persons were found positive in Cachar district . With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has now gone up to 525. As per the updated data, a total of 555 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, a total of 35 persons were found positive, whereas 73 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Dr. Ibrahim Ali Ahmed, District Surveillance Officer (DSO), IDSP, Cachar on Sunday night. It is for the second consecutive day in 2021 that the number of active cases detected in a day crossed the 100-mark and reached 108. It needs mention here that on Saturday too, the total positive cases in the district was 108. With this, the district tally of coronavirus cases has gone upto 12,219. Again, 11,656 patients till now were cured and discharged.
Hailakandi reported three fresh COVID-19 cases on Sunday, pushing the coronavirus tally in the district to 3,421. Of the three active cases detected on Sunday, two have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test. Results of 624 samples are being awaited from Silchar Medical College and Hospital. The district has altogether 37 active COVID-19 cases while 3,361 patients have recuperated from the affliction. Eight patients are presently undergoing treatment at SK Roy Civil Hospital and 29 kept under home isolation.
On Sunday, out of 3,281 Covid tests done, 09 persons were found positive in Karimganj district. Further, during the day, 15 patients were discharged after getting cured. At present, there are 84 active cases in the district. It needs mention here that on Saturday, 21 persons were found positive in the district.
On Sunday, out of 33,674 tests, 1,844 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 2,37,533. The positivity rate in the state is 5.48 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 791 positive cases during the day. During the day, 14 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 1,200. This is the highest single-day deaths recorded in Assam in 2021. It needs mention here that on Saturday, 2,236 persons tested positive in Assam and 14 deaths were registered.
Further, during the day, 14 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19, the highest single day figures in the state this year. Out of the 14 deceased, 08 are from Kamrup Metro, and 1 each from Barpeta, Dibrugarh, Kamrup Rural, Morigaon, Nalbari & Sonitpur. The death tally of the state now stands at 1,200.
