BSF celebrates 54th Raising Day at Masimpur Camp

December 1: The Border Security Force (BSF), the largest border guarding force in the world, celebrated its 54th Raising day on 1 December. Tasked with guarding borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh, the force has a vital role in ensuring the security and integrity of nation. BSF Mizoram and Cachar frontier also celebrated 54th BSF Raising Day on Saturday at Masimpur Camp. The Border Security Force has completed 53 years of its dedicated, distinguished and glorious service to the Nation on 1st December 2018.

On this occasion, the organization remembers and pays homage to its Marty’s, who made supreme sacrifice in the line of duty and attain martyrdom. The supreme sacrifice of the Bordermen has been duly recognized by the Government of India by awarding 1 Mahavir chakra, 13 Veer chakras, 4 Kirti chakras, 13 Shaurya chakras. This year BSF has been awarded 53 awards, including four Police Medal for Gallantry, six President Police Medal for Distinguished Services and 43 Police Medal for Meritorious Service. This is a matter of pride and honor for each one of us.

K N Suyal, DIG/PSO graced the function at Masimpur Camp and greeted all BSF retired personnel, serving personnel and their families on the occasion on behalf of Inspector General, M&C FTR. A colourful cultural programme was also organised by the BSF jawans and  children. But the main attraction was a spectacular performance of the BSF Band which enthralled the spectators and were hugely applauded.

During the current year, BSF Mizoram and Cachar Frontier seized 458 Cattle heads, 1994 IMFL(Indian made foreign liquor) bottles, 1524 bottles of Cough syrup, 8558 CFT wooden logs, 49814 WY/YABA tablets, 316 gms of Heroin 2057 kgs Ganja and other miscellaneous items amounting to more than 8 crores rupees, apart from conducting various welfare related programmes/activities for local population.
