ULFA(I) claims responsibility of Demow (Sivasagar) blast

November 24: In a press statement issued by ULFA(I) today, the outfit has claimed responsibility for the grenade blast which took place at a place called Demow in Sivasagar district of Assam on 22 November. Two persons, a hardware shop owner Kamal Agarwal and a customer Anup Gupta died in the explosion.

The Press Statement issued by Arunodoy Asom, Assistant Secretary of Publicity & Information of ULFA(I) stated “We the ULFA[I] would like to take responsibility of the Demow incident in Sivasagar district that took place on 22nd November, 2018. Sooner or later sternmost consequences are obvious for those who betray us. Mr Gupta was not our target, our hearts go to his family.”  The statement reveals that Kamal Agarwal was the target of ULFA(I).

On the other hand, in the same letter, ULFA(I) reiterated their earlier stand and denied their involvement in the Tinsukia firing incident where 5 Bengali speaking people were ruthlessly murdered. In the Press Statement, ULFA(I) refuted NIA and Assam Police’s claim of the outfit’s involvement in Tinsukia killing.
