Eight arrested in Demow blast including a former ULFA

২৩ নভেম্বর: শিবসাগর জেলার ডিমৌতে বিস্ফোরণের ঘটনায় এ পর্যন্ত আটজনকে গ্রেফতার করা হয়েছে। তাদের মধ্যে যে দোকানে বিস্ফোরণটি ঘটেছে, এর এক কর্মচারীও রয়েছে। এক প্রাক্তন আলফাকেও এই ঘটনায় জড়িত সন্দেহে গ্রেফতার করা হয়েছে। এদিকে, ব্যবসায়ীরা শুক্রবার ডিমৌ বাজারে বনধ পালন করেন। রাজ্যের বিদ্যুৎ মন্ত্রী তপন গগৈ জানিয়েছেন, নিহতদের পরিবারে পাঁচ লাখ টাকা করে আর্থিক সহায়তা প্রদান করা হবে।

November 23: In the event of a blast in a shop in Demow town in Sivasagar district that killed two persons on Thursday, eight persons have been arrested so far by the police. A staff of the shop in which the blast occurred has also been arrested. On the basis of suspicion by the police, a former ULFA cadre was also nabbed by the police.

Those arrested are Pankaj Bora, an employee of the deceased’s hardware shop, Nitul Hazarika, Prabhat Kahnikar, a resident of Nitaipukhuri, Kishore Patel, staff of Demow petrol pump, Jiyarul Hussain of Nimonagarh, Bedanta Nath, Tangbhiu from Dimapur and Izzal.

Meanwhile, the shops and business establishment at Demow remained closed on Friday as a mark of protest. The two persons who lost their lives in the blast are Kamal Agarwal and Anup Gupta. State Power Minister Tapan Gogoi has declared that Rs. 5 lakh each will be paid by the government to the family of the deceased.
