Assam govt to shift office of Barak Valley Zonal Commissioner from Guwahati to Silchar

Jan. 8: In a significant development, in order to achieve equal development of Barak and Brahmaputra valleys, the state government has decided to shift the office of Barak Valley Zonal Commissioner from Guwahati to Silchar. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has expressed the view that this step will be beneficial for the people of Barak Valley. This decision to shift the office of the Divisional Commissioner to Barak Valley would be implemented at the earliest. This was informed in a press release issued by Directorate of Public Relations (DIPR) Assam on Thursday.
