১৬ নভেম্বরঃ এপিএসসি পরীক্ষায় এ বার প্রথম স্থান অর্জন করেছেন হাইলাকান্দি জেলার লালা শহরের কলেজ রোডের বাসিন্দা মারিয়া তানিম। তিনি অবসরপ্রাপ্ত বিডিও কুতুবউদ্দিন বড়ভুইয়া ও অবসরপ্রাপ্ত বিজ্ঞানশিক্ষিকা ইসমাতারা বড়ভুইয়ার কন্যা। স্কুলের প্রাথমিক পাঠ লালার প্রিমরোজ ইংলিশ স্কুল। পরে চলে যান শিলচরে। সেন্ট্রাল স্কুল থেকে মাধ্যমিক পাশ করেন। বিটেক ডিগ্রি নেন দিল্লির অ্যামিটি ইউনিভার্সিটি থেকে। এপিএসসি প্রথম হওয়ার কথা জেনে খুব খুশি মারিয়া এবং তাঁর বাবা-মা। জানালেন, এ বার তাঁর লক্ষ্য, ইউপিএসসি-তে বসা। সে জন্য প্রস্তুতি শুরু করে দিয়েছেন তিনি।

এপিএসসি-তে বরাক উপত্যকা থেকে প্রথম স্থান লাভ করায় উপত্যকা জুড়ে খুশির আবহ। সোশ্যাল মিডিয়ায় মারিয়ার উদ্দেশে অভিনন্দনের ঝড় বইছে। অনেকে মন্তব্য করেছেন, সঠিক মূল্যায়ণ হলে বরাকের ছেলেমেয়েরা কম নয়, প্রমাণ করলেন লালার মারিয়া। শুক্রবার ২০১৬ সালের এপিএসসি মেইন পরীক্ষার ফলাফল প্রকাশিত হয়েছে। মারিয়া সহ ৯৫জনকে বেছে নেওয়া হয়েছে অসম সরকারের জুনিয়র গ্রেড অফিসারের জন্য। দ্বিতীয় ও তৃতীয় স্থান লাভ করেছেন ক্রমে মুনমি শইকিয়া ও নির্মলজ্যোতি শর্মা।

শুক্রবার একই সঙ্গে ৬০জনকে মনোনীত করা হয়েছে ল্যান্ড রেভেন্যু সার্ভিসের জন্য। পুলিশ সার্ভিসে ৩জন, শ্রম অফিসার পদে ৩জন, কর সুপার ২জন, সমবায় বিভাগের অ্যাসিস্ট্যান্ট রেজিস্ট্রার ৫জন, শ্রম পরিদর্শক ৭জন, কর পরিদর্শক ৮জন, আবগারি পরিদর্শক ১২জন এবং অ্যাসিস্ট্যান্ট এমপ্লয়মেন্ট অফিসার পদেও ১০জনের নামের তালিকা প্রকাশ করেছে আসাম পাবলিক সার্ভিস কমিশন।

শুধু অবশ্য মারিয়াই নন, সপ্তম স্থান অধিকার করেছেন শিলচর রংপুরের কে বাবু সিংয়ের পুত্র কে ইশান সিং। পড়াশোনা মেঘালয়ে। সে রাজ্যের মাধ্যমিক ও উচ্চ মাধ্যমিক পরীক্ষায় প্রথম ক্রমে ২০০৮ ও ২০১০ সালে প্রথম হন। শুক্রবারের ফলাফলে অষ্টাদশ মালুগ্রামের শৌভিক দত্ত। তিনি মীন বিভাগের বড়বাবু প্রণব দত্তের ছেলে। মা স্কুল শিক্ষিকা। শিলচর কলেজিয়েট স্কুলের ছাত্র। ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং পড়া শেষে বিশাখাপত্তনমে কিছুদিন চাকরিও করেন। পরে চলে আসেন এপিএসসি-র প্রস্তুতি নেন।

এ বার বাদ যায়নি করিমগঞ্জ জেলাও। অ্যাসিস্ট্যান্ট এমপ্লয়মেন্ট অফিসার পদে বাছাই করা হয়েছে সীমান্ত শহরের ছেলে সমুজ্জল দাসকে। বরাক থেকে মোট ৫জন এই প্রতিযোগিতামূলক পরীক্ষার ফলাফলে স্থান করে নিয়েছেন। অপর জন হাইলাকান্দির জাগৃতি কালোয়ার। তিনি ৯৫ জুনিয়র গ্রেড অফিসার তালিকায় ৮৯ নং স্থানে রয়েছেন।

November 16: Maria Tanim, a girl who hails from College Road area of Lala town in Hailakandi district has topped the APSC this year. Tanim is the daughter of retired Block Development Officer (BDO) Kutub Uddin Barbhuiya and retired Science Teacher Ismatara Barbhuiya.

At primary level, Maria studied in Primrose English School, Lala. She then came over to Silchar and passed HSLC from Central School. She then did B.Tech from Amity University, Delhi. Maria was extremely happy to know about her performance in APSC. The happiness of her parents too was beyond description. Speaking about her future plans, Maria told that her goal is now to crack UPSC and for that she has already started her preparation.

A wave of happiness has swept throughout Barak Valley. This is ofcourse a matter of immense honour that APSC has been topped by a student from this valley. Many have expressed the view that in a fair play, boys and girls of Barak Valley have got the talent to outshine all. Maria of Lala has proved it this time by securing the 1st position in APSC. On Friday, the result of APSC Mains was declared. Maria along with 95 others was selected for Junior Grade Officers of the Government of Assam. The 2nd and 3rd positions were bagged by Munmi Saikia and Nirmal Jyoti Sharma.

Apart from it, 60 aspirants were selected for Land Revenue Service, 3 for Police Service, another 3 for the position of Labour Officer, 2 as Tax Superintendent, 5 in the category of Assistant Registrar in Cooperative Department, 7 as Labour Supervisor8 as Tax Supervisor, 12 as Salex Tax Supervisor and 10 as Assistant Employment Officer. The list containing their names was published by Assam Public Service Commission (APSC).

This time it has been raining positions for Barak Valley in APSC. Apart from Maria, the 7^th position was bagged by K. Ishan Singh of Rangpur, Silchar.He is the son of K. Babu Singh. He has studied in Meghalaya. A brilliant student, Ishan stood 1st in both HSLC and HS from meghalaya Board in 2008 and 2010 respectively. Shouvick Dutta of Malugram has secured the 18^th position. Shouvick is the son of Pranab Dutta, the Head Accountant of Fisheries Department. His mother is a school teacher. Shouvick passed out from Silchar Collegiate School. After studying Engineering, he worked in a private enterprise for some months in Vishakhapatnam. Later on, he left the job and came back to prepare for APSC.

Not only Hailakandi and Cachar, Karimganj too has its own reasons to smile. Samujjal Das from Karimganj has been selected for the post of Assistant Employment Officer. A total of 5 candidates from Barak Valley have cracked APSC. The other position seeker is Jagriti Kalwar from Hailakandi. She has bagged the 89^th position out of a total of 95 in the category of Junior Grade Officer.
