Jan Andolan Campaign on COVID-19 to begin in Hailakandi

Nov. 6: The Hailakandi district administration has asked the health authorities and all heads of offices to take immediate steps for a Jan Andolan Campaign on COVID-19. In a letter to the Joint Director, Health Services and all district heads of government establishments here on Thursday, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Health, NK Shah directed them to generate a mass movement (Jan Andolan) on COVID-19 and to ensure strict compliance of State and Central Governments instructions to prevent the spread of the deadly virus.

The three key messages of the Jan Andolan Campaign on COVID-19 are wearing mask, following physical distancing and maintaining hand hygiene. As part of the campaign, a pledge has to be taken by all employees of the government offices, PSUs, grassroot organisations and frontline workers for remaining vigilant and in adopting precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the disease and to encourage others to follow the key COVID Appropriate Behaviours to win the fight against the disease.

It may be mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Jan Andolan Campaign on COVID-19 on October 8. A low cost, high intensity campaign driven by people’s participation for dissemination of information on COVID-19 using all media platforms. It aims at ‘unlocking with precautions’ that is COVID-19 Appropriate Behaviour in the New Normal. The district administration has already constituted a five-member district level committee for public health response to COVID-19 on October 16.
