ABVP Silchar unit protests murder of a student in Faridabad, demands exemplary punishment

Oct. 31: In a shocking incident, 21-year-old student Nikita Tomar from Ballabhgarh in Faridabad in Haryana was shot dead outside her college on Wednesday morning. As a mark of protest, members of the Silchar unit of  Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organised a protest demonstration at the pedestal of Khudiram Statue in Silchar.

Nikita Tomar had filed a molestation complaint against her alleged stalker Touseef in September 2020. A month later, on 26 October, she was shot dead by the same man, outside her college campus in Ballabgarh, Faridabad. Touseef, Rehan, and a third accused Arju were arrested by Haryana Police in connection with the case and have been sent to 14-day judicial custody.

The accused, Tauseef, has also reportedly confessed to the crime. He said, “I killed her because she was going to marry someone else”. The shocking incident was captured on a CCTV camera in which one can see the two accused coming out of a white i20 car and trying to get hold of two girl students.

Speaking during the protest demonstration, ABVP State Girls’ in-charge Kaberi Nag denounced this incident in strong words. She said, “Such king of incidents centering Love Jihad should be immediately stopped and strong action should be initiated against the culprits.” Present during the demonstration were ABVP Silchar Unit Secretary Kisholoy Chakraborty, Joint Secretary Rohan Roy & Anjali Das, Agitation in-charge Rohit Chanda, Office Secretary Rituraj Chakraborty, Office Joint Secretary Nobojyoti Chakma among others.
