152 tests +ve in Cachar on Wednesday; 2 deaths reported at SMCH

Sept. 30: On Wednesday, a total of 152 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, 7054 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, 128 persons were found positive, whereas 24 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Wednesday night. However, he indicated the numbers may increase at night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 9,147. It needs mention here that 133 persons were found positive in Cachar on Tuesday.

In the 1st slot of RT-PCR Test on Wednesday, 24 persons were detected COVID-19 positive in Cachar district. Out of the 23 new cases, 16 of them are with a travel history. These 16 persons were identified as: 38-year-old male from Public School Road (Air passenger from Kolkata), 56-year-old male from Tarapur (Air passenger from Punjab), 40-year-old male from Nazirpatty (Air passenger from Kolkata), 22-year-old male from Ashram Road (Air passenger from West Bengal), 52 years old male from Central Road (Air passenger from West Bengal), 56 years old male from Siddharth Hotel (Air passenger from Kolkata), 23 years old female from Medical College (Airport screening), 38-year-old male & 37-year-old female from CIAT School, CRPF, Doyapur ((Air passenger from West Bengal), 37 years old male from Salchapra (Air passenger from West Bengal), 46-year-old female & 53-year-old male from Gossaipur in Udharbond (Air passenger from Delhi), 48 years old male from BSF Dholcherra (Air passenger from Kashmir), 52 years old male from Masimpur BSF Camp (Air passenger from Delhi), 48 years old male from Army Camp Mashimpur (Air passenger from Delhi) and 20 years old male from Dudpatil (Air passenger from Maharashtra).

Apart from them, two persons with Influenza Like Illness (ILI) symptoms were also found positive. Both these two persons are from Masimpur Military Station. One patient admitted at Cachar Cancer Hospital & Research Centre was also detected as COVID-19 positive. A 40 years old male from Tulagram Part-I is admitted at the Cancer Hospital for pre-treatment of malignancy. A 32-year-old pregnant woman in near labour from Chandinangar Part-6 who is presently admitted at SMCH also tested positive. The last one in this slot is a 56 years old male from GC CRPF Doyapur.

In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Wednesday said that in the last 24 hours, 176 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 392 persons were collected. 525 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 27 of them tested positive. Further, 132 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 04 were found positive.

Apart from this, 13 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 10 were discharged. At present, there are 104 active patients at SMCH,out of which, 16 are admitted in ICU and 03 in ventilation. 19 patients are now in critical condition. Another 12 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 177 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 329 patients.

Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, 02 persons have died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. Both the deceased are from Cachar district. As of now, there were 145 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 145 deaths, 59 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
