83 tests +ve in Cachar on Monday, 21 patients critical at SMCH

Sept. 14:  On Monday, the number of novel coronavirus patients increased once again. A total of 83 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar district. During the day, a total of 1358 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, 81 were found positive, whereas only 02 were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Monday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 7,791 till now. It needs mention here that 38 persons were found positive in Cachar on Sunday.

In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Monday said that in the last 24 hours, 220 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 350 persons were collected. 513 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 12 of them tested positive. Further, 274 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 16 were found positive.

Apart from this, 16 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 29 were discharged. At present, there are 180 active patients at SMCH,out of which, 16 are admitted in ICU and 03 in ventilation. 21 patients are now in critical condition. Another 40 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 118 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 227 patients.

Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, only 01 person from Karimganj district died at SMCH. The deceased was identified as Indrajit Das (62) from Karimganj. He died in SMCH at 2.20 PM on 14 September.

As of now, there were 131 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 131 deaths, 54 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
