NRC: 9000 seek duplicate admit cards of West Bengal Board exam prior to 1973

৩১ অক্টোবর : পশ্চিমবঙ্গ মধ্য শিক্ষা পর্ষদ এখন ১৯৭৩ সালের আগের বোর্ড পরীক্ষার এডমিট কার্ড পরীক্ষা করে দেখতে ও তা ইস্যু করার কাজে ব্যস্ত রয়েছে। বুধবার এ কথা প্রকাশ পেয়েছে যে, অসমে বসবাসকারী প্রায় ৯০০০ মানুষ, যাদের নাম নাগরিকপঞ্জির চূড়ান্ত খসড়া তালিকায় স্থান পায়নি, তারা পশ্চিমবঙ্গ মধ্যশিক্ষা পর্ষদকে ১৯৭৩ সালের আগে অনুষ্ঠিত স্কুল শিক্ষান্ত পরীক্ষার ডুপ্লিকেট এডমিট কার্ড ইস্যু করার জন্য আবেদন জানিয়েছেন।

পশ্চিমবঙ্গ মধ্যশিক্ষা পর্ষদের সভাপতি কল্যাণময় গাঙ্গুলি বলেন, এ পর্যন্ত বোর্ড ৬০০০ এডমিট কার্ড ইস্যু করে তা পাঠিয়ে দিয়েছে, যারা মূলত ত্রিপুরার এবং পরবর্তীতে আসামের বাসিন্দা হয়েছেন। তারা ১৯৭৩ সালের আগে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ মধ্যশিক্ষা পর্ষদের অধীনে বোর্ড পরীক্ষায় উত্তীর্ণ হয়েছেন। গাঙ্গুলি এ ব্যাপারে আরও বলেছেন যে, তারা এখন বাকি আবেদনপত্রগুলো পরীক্ষা করে তা যুদ্ধকালীন পরিস্থিতিতে পাঠানোর কাজে ব্যস্ত রয়েছেন।

মজার বিষয় হলো, সব আবেদনকারী ১৯৭৩ সালের আগে ত্রিপুরার বাসিন্দা ছিলেন। কারণ সে সময় ত্রিপুরায় কোনও মধ্যশিক্ষা পর্ষদ ছিল না। সেজন্য ত্রিপুরার স্কুলগুলো পশ্চিমবঙ্গ মধ্যশিক্ষা পর্ষদের অনুমোদিত ছিল। এ ব্যাপারে গাঙ্গুলি বলেছেন, যারা ডুপ্লিকেট অ্যাডমিট কার্ডের জন্য আবেদন করেছেন, তার হয়তো মূল কার্ডটি হারিয়ে ফেলেছেন। ডুপ্লিকেট অ্যাডমিট কার্ডের আবেদনগুলো গত জুলাই মাস থেকেই রাজ্যের শিক্ষা বিভাগ পশ্চিমবঙ্গ মধ্য শিক্ষা পর্ষদকে পাঠিয়ে দিয়েছে।

এখানে উল্লেখ করা যেতে পারে যে, ডুপ্লিকেট অ্যাডমিট কার্ড ইস্যু করার বিষয়টি আসামের নাগরিকপঞ্জির চূড়ান্ত খসড়ায় নাম না থাকা লক্ষ লক্ষ বাঙালির নাম অন্তর্ভুক্তির সঙ্গে জড়িত রয়েছে। কারণ এনআরসির প্রামাণ্য নথি হিসেবে এই অ্যাডমিট কার্ড একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ নথির একটি ধরা হয়, কারণ এই সার্টিফিকেটে সংশ্লিষ্ট ব্যক্তির জন্ম তারিখ উল্লেখ করা থাকে।

October 31: West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) is now busy in verifying and issuing duplicate Admit Card of the Board Exam, which it conducted before 1973. It was revealed on Wednesday that around 9000 residents of Assam, whose names were excluded from the final draft of NRC have applied to the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) for issuing duplicate admit cards of High School Leaving Examinations held before 1973.

Kalyanmoy Ganguly, President of WBBSE said till now the board had issued and dispatched admit cards to 6,000 applicants, who actually hailed from Tripura and later migrated to Assam. They had passed the board examination under the West Bengal Board before 1973. Mr. Ganguly also added that they are involved in the process of screening the remaining applications on a war footing.

Interestingly, all the applicants were residing in Tripura before 1973. Since there was no secondary school education board in the state at that time, so the schools of Tripura were then affiliated to the WBBSE. Mr. Ganguly is of the view that those who have applied for the duplicate admit cards may have lost the original documents. The applications for the duplicate admit cards were forwarded to the WBBSE by the state Education Department since July.

It is apprehended that the applications for issuance of duplicate admit cards were linked to the exclusion of the names of lakhs of Bengalis from the complete draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam. It is so because the admit card of the board examination is considered an important document from the view point of NRC, as the date of birth of the candidate is mentioned in it
