22 more tests positive on Sunday in Cachar, day’s total 78

August 2: On Sunday night, another 22 persons were detected as coronavirus positive in Cachar. With this, the total number of COVID-19 cases on Sunday went upto 78. All persons tested positive as per the 4th slot of RTPCR Test are without any travel history and were detected through contact tracing etc.

Out of the positive cases detected in the 4th slot of RT-PCR Test on Sunday, 8 of them are from Borkhola Police Station in Cachar. However, their source of infection was not mentioned in the SRF. Their swab samples were collected on 31 July and the positive report came on Sunday. Apart from them, 7 persons tested positive from Sree Durga Sarani in Meherpur. They are asymptomatic but were infected after they came in contact with high risk lab confirmed case. Three more persons including a 4 years old child were tested positive from Fulbari Part-III in Bikrampur area of Cachar. They too came in contact with high risk lab confirmed case. Another person from Nayagram Cachar also tested positive during the day.

Earlier on Sunday late evening, 56 persons were tested COVID-19 positive after the 1st two slots of RT-PCR Test and some Rapid Antigen Test. 18 persons were detected positive as per the 1st slot and 27 were found positive as per the 2nd slot. That means, a total of 45 persons were detected positive as per the results of first two slots of  RT-PCR Test. Along with it, another 11 persons were tested positive in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). With this, as of Sunday late evening, 56 coronavirus positive cases were detected in Cachar district. The numbers are going to increase in the night as some more slots of RTPCR & RAT results are awaited.

Commenting on this, District Media Expert, Suman Choudhury informed that till 1 August, 1754 persons were detected positive in Cachar. 1085 persons got cured and were subsequently discharged. Apart from this, 842 persons were detected without travel history (through contact tracing etc.), out of which 425 persons are from defence. He further acknowledged the fact that from the last 2 days, the health department is facing some inconveniences regarding ambulance management for picking up positive patients from their homes/ quarantine centres. He said, “This is because the number of positive cases has increased now and moreover, some ambulance drivers and staff of health department has also tested positive. So the late in reaching to the positive patients is purely unintentional. Moreover, many persons who turns positive keeps their mobile switched off, which results in great difficulty for us to trace the patient.

In the 1st slot, 18 persons were detected positive on Sunday. Out of them two persons, 13 years old teenager and a 20 years old female were detected positive from Panchgori Road, Meherpur. They are asymptomatic. Another 2 persons with Influenza Like Symptoms (ILI) were tested positive from Kalibari Road, Tarapur. Both are symptomatic. Two more persons featured in the positive list from Quarantine Facility at Masimpur. They are asymptomatic but were infected as they came in direct contact with high risk lab confirmed case. They are asymptomatic.

Three persons from Ghungoor Veterinary with ILI symptoms tested positive on Sunday. Another person, a 30 years old youth from SMC Road, Daspara was also tested positive. A 25-year-old youth from Sagarika Regency, Shillongpatty was also detected positive with ILI symptoms. A 52-year-old lady from Sarat Pally tested positive with SARI symptoms. A 23 years pregnant woman in near labour from Kanakpur Part-I was also detected positive.

In the 2nd slot, 27 persons from Cachar district were also detected as COVID-19 positive. 5 persons from SMCH were tested positive. A 61-year-old lady from Kamala Road was detected positive with ILI symptoms. Another symptomatic patient was also detected from Swamiji Road. A 38-year-old man tested positive from Premtola. From Das Colony (Janata Lane), a 18 years old female also became positive. A 42-year-old female from Radhamadhab Road though asymptomatic but got infected as she came in direct contact with high risk lab confirmed case. A similar case was also detected from Kalyan Sarani in Rongpur. A teenager from Kanakpur, Part-II also featured in the list. 2 persons from Durgapally, Ghungoor also tested positive. Further, a 35-year-old employee of Punjab National Bank (PNB) was detected as COVID-19 positive.
