DM clamps Section 144 on Indo-Bangladesh border of Cachar District

June 3: Reassessing the security condition in Cachar District and to stop illegal export of commodities ,cattles from the district to Bangladesh through the border including illegal infiltration from Bangladesh, District Magistrate, Cachar, Keerthi Jalli clamped 144 Crpc on Indo-Bangladesh Border of Cachar.

The order specified that no person will be allowed to move between sunset to sunrise within a belt of 1 km of Indo-Bangladesh Border of Cachar district and no person will be allowed to move on the river Surma and on its high banks within the territory in actual control of India in the district of Cachar between the sunset to sunrise. In addition to that, no person will be allowed to ply boat in Surma river for the purpose of fishing. Permission for fishing will only be given to the local people by Circle Officer of Katigorah for their personal consumption after obtaining permission from the lessee as per terms and condition of lessee and the copy of such permission should be endorsed by the District Magistrate, Cachar and Commandment 131BSF, Dholchera.

It was also informed that no person will be allowed to carry any amount of rice, sugar, wheat, edible oil, S.K oil and salt by any vehicle, thela, rickshaw or by other means between sunset to sunrise within 5 km belt inside the district boundary of Cachar along Bangladesh border provided that permit may be issued in this regard by the Circle Officer Katigorah who will only permit relaxation, if any, for specific purpose, time and place after verification from the local supply officials with a copy to the District Magistrate and the Commandant of 131 BSF , Dholchera.
