2 BSF jawans test positive in Tripura

May 02: After around 21 days, two fresh cases of coronavirus were reported from Tripura on Saturday. Two BSF jawans from Ambassa unit at Jahar Nagar in Tripura’s Dhalai district have been found positive This was tweeted by Chief Minister Biplab Deb. With this, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Tripura goes up to four. However, the 1st two COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered and were discharged. This means that, at present, there are two active corona cases in Tripura.

Taking to his tweeter handle, Tripura Chief Minister, Biplab Kumar Deb wrote, “Alert! In Tripura two persons from Ambassa #BSF unit found #COVID19 positive. Total #COVID19 positive cases in Tripura stands at 4. (Two already discharged, so active hospital cases : 2.” This was updated by the Chief Minister on 2 May at 2.30 PM. It was learnt that the infected BSF jawans have been admitted to GBP hospital in Agartala.

Earlier, the Chief Minister declared Tripura as a coronavirus-free State on 23 April, after last of its COVID-19 patient was cured and discharged.
