Meghalaya wants lockdown to continue beyond 3 May: CM Sangma
April 27: Meghalaya wants the lockdown in the state to continue beyond May 3 to stem the spread of COVID-19, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said on Monday after a teleconference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Taking to his official twitter, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma wrote, “At the video conference called by the Hon’ble PM @narendramodi ji and Hon’ble Home Minister, @AmitShahji. We have mooted to continue with the lockdown post May 3rd with relaxation on activities in Green Zones or Non-Covid affected districts in #Meghalaya.”
The Chief Minister also suggested during the video conference that, “The #MeghalayaModel of ‘Rapid Response System’, wherein within a specified time frame response is initiated by health, administration, and police on detection of new #Covid19 cases in the VC today with the Hon’ble PM @narendramodiji.”

Meghalaya has so far reported 12 COVID-19 positive cases of which 11 are active and one person has died. Two districts have been classified as red zones.
