Goldighi Mall Merchant Association stands beside 100 needy families

April 26: The outbreak of coronavirus pandemic followed by nationwide lockdown has brought life to an standstill. When on one hand, there is no work, no earnings for many, on the other, lockdown has brought forth the humanitarian aspect of mankind to the forefront. Many individuals and organisations have come forward to help those who are in distress. On Sunday, Goldighi Mall Merchant Welfare Association distributed relief among 100 needy families at Debpara in Chirukandi area under Ambikapur Gaon Panchayat in Cachar district.

Responding to the call of Goldighi Mall Merchant Welfare Association, Silchar MLA Dilip Kumar Paul also made himself available and handed over the relief materials to the people. The Association distributed the grocery items in eco-friendly bags duly observing the norms of social distancing.

The grocery items which the Goldighi Mall Merchant Welfare Association gave included rice 3kg, dal 1 kg, mustard oil 0.5 litres, potato 1 kg and salt 1 packet. The area where they distributed primarily consist of daily wage workers who are at present devoid of any work.

Present during the relief distribution were Ramanuj Gupta, President of the Association, Secretary Amrit Paul, Treasurer Sandip Paul, Gobinda Kangshabanik, Rahul Paul, Tapan Roy, Anup Acharjee, Kajal Karmakar among others.
