1st COVID-19 death in Assam, patient from Hailakandi dies at SMCHমারাই গেলেন আলগাপুরের ফয়জুল হক, করোনায় মৃত্যুতালিকাতেও আসাম
১০ এপ্রিলঃ সবচেষ্টা ব্যর্থ করে দিয়ে বৃহস্পতিবার শবেবরাতের রাতে শেষনিঃশ্বাস ত্যাগ করলেন হাইলাকান্দি জেলার আলগাপুর থানাধীন বড়জুরাই গ্রামের ফয়জুল হক বড়ভুইয়া। করোনায় আক্রান্ত হয়ে আসামের প্রথম মৃত্যু।
দুুপুরের পরই তাঁর স্বাস্থ্যের ক্রমাবনতি ঘটছিল। করোনা ভাইরাসের সঙ্গে ফুসফুসে নিউমোনিয়ার সংক্রমণ দেখা দেয়। সন্ধ্যার পর তাঁকে ভেন্টিলেশনে রাখা হয়। কিন্তু রাত ২টা ১৬ মিনিটে মন্ত্রী হিমন্ত বিশ্ব শর্মা টুইট করে দুঃসংবাদটি দেন। জানান, কযেকমিনিট আগে প্রয়াত হয়েছেন হাইলাকান্দি জেলার ৬৫ বছর বয়সী ফয়জুল হক বড়ভুইয়া।

মঙ্গলবার তাঁর পজিটিভ ধরা পড়েছিল। তাও তেমন কোনও শারীরিক সমস্যা ছিল না। সস্ত্রীক উমরাহ হজ সেরে গত ১৮ মার্চ তিনি বাড়ি ফেরেন। জেড্ডা থেকে বিমানে প্রথমে মুম্বাইয়ে অবতরণ করেন। সে দিনই যান দিল্লিতে। নিজামুদ্দিন এলাকায় থাকেন দুইদিন। যান তবলিগি জামাতেও। শিলচর বিমানবন্দরে নেমেই তিনি থার্মাল স্ক্রিনিং করান। দেহের তাপমাত্রা তখন একেবারে স্বাভাবিক ছিল। ছিল না অন্য উপসর্গও। তাকে বাড়িতেই ১৪ দিন কোয়রান্টাইনে থাকতে বলা হয়েছিল।
এই পর্বশেষেও কোনও শারীরিক সমস্যা টের পাননি। তিনি বা তাঁর পরিবারের সদস্যরা অবশ্য নিজামুদ্দিনে যাওয়ার কথা চেপে গিয়েছিলেন। তবু সৌদিফেরত বলে তাঁকে আরও ১৪দিন কোয়রান্টাইনে কাটাতে নির্দেশ দেওয়া হয়েছিল৷ ৫ এপ্রিল নতুন করে সংগ্রহ করা হয় তাঁর লালারস। ৭ এপ্রিল ধরা পড়ে, করোনা ভাইরাস তাঁর দেহেও বাসা বেঁধেছে। সে রাতেই তাঁকে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয় শিলচর মেডিক্যাল কলেজ হাসপাতালে। স্ত্রী সহ পরিবারের ৫জনকে বাড়ি থেকে সরিয়ে অন্যত্র কোয়রান্টাইন করা হয়। গোটা বড়জুরাই এলাকাকে কন্টেইনমেন্ট জোন ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে।
April 10: The first incident of death of a COVID-19 patient in Assam was reported at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). The 65-year old COVID-19 patient from Hailakandi district in Assam, who was the 28th person in the state to test positive died at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH).
Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma tweets at 2.16 a.m., ‘Faijul Hoque Barbhuiya has expired few minutes back in SMCH due to complications of COVID19 infection’. Silchar MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy went to SMCH in the night and stated that the patient died at around 1.54 PM on Thursday night.

The patient is from Mohanpur area under Algapur P.S. in Hailakandi district. The 65 years old man from Hailakandi has a travel history to Saudi Arabia and has also been to Nizamuddin Markaz, which is regarded as the ‘hot-bed of coronavirus infection.’ The man was home quarantined in his residence at Algapur after returning from Saudi Arabia. He was declared positive when he was at his home on 7 April.
However, his condition deteriorated on 9 April and he was shifted to ICU at SMCH. Though his other parameters were stable, but his oxygen saturation was decreasing.
Following the COVID-19 positive case, the Hailakandi district administration has declared the Borjurai village under Hailakandi Revenue Circle as containment zone to arrest further spread of the virus with immediate effect. In an order issued to this effect by Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli late evening on Tuesday under the Assam COVID-19 Containment Regulation, 2020, the village where the COVID-19 infected person resided has been sealed with strict perimeter control enforced in the containment zone demarcating clear entry and exit points. “The containment measures will shut down everything barring essential services,” the order stated.
The health authorities collected the swab samples of family members of the COVID-19 patient, which, however, tested negative.
