Fire in a flat at Ambicapatty, 3-year old child died

February 29: A major fire broke out in a flat at Ambicapatty, Silchar. As per reports, local people saw flames coming out of the 4th floor of ‘Dinesh Enclave’ in Narshing Road East on Saturday afternoon. The incident occured around 12.30 to 1 PM.

The child is learnt to have informed his mother about the fire over telephone. Fire service was called at once. But before the fire fighters could douse the flame one child, Ratnadeep Nath, aged 3 years was burnt to death in the fire. It was further learnt that a girl, the caretaker of the child, Sipti Nath was also seriously burnt and was admitted at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. DC Cachar Barnali Sarma also reached the spot.

The owner of the flat where fire broke out is Ramendu Nath. He and his wife Sarbani Nath both were not present in the flat when the incident of fire took place. Being working parents, they were out for their respective work leaving the child with the caretaker girl. Though the fire was later on brought under control, but the exact cause of the fire has not been ascertained as yet.
