রামকৃষ্ণনগর থানাধীন মোকামছড়া বিদ্যানগরের আব্দুল রশিদ অপহরণকাণ্ডের মূল মাথা আনোয়ার আলিকে গ্রেফতার করা হয়েছে। পুলিশ জানিয়েছে, মুক্তিপণ নিতে এসে শুক্রবারই ধরা পড়েছিল তিন অপহরণকারী। তাদের জেরা করে বেরিয়ে আসে আনোয়ারের কথা। তারই মস্তিষ্কপ্রসূত এই অপহরণ পরিকল্পনা। ধৃত আব্দুল মুনিম, নজরুল ইসলাম ও শাহিন আহমদকে সে-ই এই কাজের জন্য প্ররোচিত করে। লোভ দেখায়, ৩ লক্ষ টাকা ও ১টি মোটর সাইকেল আদায় করে নেবে। চারজনে ভাগবাটোয়ারায় মন্দ মিলবে না। নিজেই গাড়ি নিয়ে বেরিয়ে পড়েছিল। পথে তুলে নেয় অন্যদের। কিন্তু সাদা পোশাকের পুলিশের কথা মাথায় না আসায় আনিপুর পেট্রল পাম্পের সামনের জায়গাকে লেনদেনের জন্য বেছে নেওয়া হয়েছিল। আনোয়ার গাড়ির সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকায় সেখানে অন্য তিনজন ধরা পড়লেও সে পালানোর ধীরে ধীরে সরে পড়ার সুযোগ পেয়ে যায়। তবে শেষরক্ষা হয়নি। ধৃতদের কাজে লাগিয়েই পুলিশ আনোয়ারকে গ্রেফতারে সক্ষম হয়।

পুলিশ সুপার গৌরব উপাধ্যায় জানিয়েছেন, অত্যন্ত বুদ্ধিমত্তার সঙ্গে তাঁর বাহিনী এই অপহরণকাণ্ডে তদন্তের কাজ গুটিয়ে আনে। তাও মাত্র দুইদিনের মধ্যে। তাঁর কথায়, পুলিশের কাজ শেষ। এখন বিচারের ভার আদালতের হাতে।

September 16: A sensational incident of kidnapping occurred at Vidyanagar area of RamkrishnaNagar in Hailkandi district. A 53 year old man, Abdul Rashid was kidnapped by 4 of his close acquaintances in a Bolero car. However, three of them were arrested by the police when they came to collect the ransom from the son of Abdul Rashid near Anipur Petrol Pump.

The trio who were arrested on the day of kidnapping are Abdul Munim, Nazrul Islam and Sahin Ahmed. During interrogation, they revealed the name of the 4^th and the main accused Anwar Ali. Police said that the entire plot of kidnapping was the brainchild of Anwar Ali. It was Anwar who instigated the others and made them partners in crime. On that day when police in plain dress nabbed the other three, Anwar was standing at a distance near his Bolero car. Sensing trouble, he fled away from the spot. However, he failed to evade arrest for long and was arrested today on the basis of the information they received from the arrested trio.

Police Super Gaurav Upadhay has informed that his forces have arrested the prime accused Anwar Ali on Sunday within only two days of the kidnapping incident. He said that the task of the police is over and now the trial will be done by the judiciary.
