স্বামীজির শিকাগো ভাষণের ১২৫ বছরে শিলচরে রামকৃষ্ণ মিশনের শোভাযাত্রা
125th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago speech celebrated with pomp & devotion

১১ সেপ্টেম্বর : শিকাগোয় বিশ্ব ধর্ম সম্মেলনে স্বামী বিবেকানন্দের দেওয়া ভাষণের আজ ১২৫ বছর পূর্তি। সেই ভাষণের মাধ্যমে স্বামীজি প্রত্যেক বিশ্ববাসীর মন জয় করে নিয়েছিলেন। সেদিন তিনি প্রতিটি বিষয় ধরে ভারতীয় ধর্মের সার কথা বর্ণনা করেছিলেন। বক্তব্যের মাধ্যমে তিনি ভারতীয়দের উত্তরাধিকার, আমাদের সংস্কৃতি এবং ভারতীয় দর্শনের কথা তিনি বুঝিয়ে দেন। ১৮৯৩ সালে শিকাগোয় বিশ্ব ধর্ম সম্মেলনে স্বামী বিবেকানন্দের দেওয়া ভাষণটি ওইদিন সকাল থেকেই সামাজিক মাধ্যমগুলো উদযাপন করে আসছে। প্রধানমন্ত্রীও নয়াদিল্লির বিজ্ঞান ভবন থেকে সারা দেশের ছাত্রদের উদ্দেশে স্বামীজির এই ভাষণের ১২৫ বছর পূর্তি উপলক্ষে আজ ভাষণ দিয়েছেন।

এই দিনটি আজ বেলুড়মঠেও যথাযোগ্য মর্যাদায় পালিত হয়েছে। বেলুড় মঠের নির্দেশেই দিনটি শিলচর রামকৃষ্ণ মিশনেও নানা অনুষ্ঠানে উদযাপন করা হয়। বেলুড় মঠ এ ব্যাপারে পক্ষকালের এক অনুষ্ঠানসূচি তৈরি করে দিয়েছে। সে অনুযায়ী দেশের বিভিন্ন রামকৃষ্ণ মিশনে পালন করা হচ্ছে। আজ শিলচর রামকৃষ্ণ মিশনের উদ্যোগে সকালে শহরের নরসিংটোলা মাঠ থেকে একটি বর্ণাঢ্য শোভাযাত্রা বের করা হয়। এটি শহরের বিভিন্ন সড়ক পরিক্রমা করে শেষে পৌছে রামকৃষ্ণ মিশনে। তার আগে এই শোভাযাত্রা গিয়ে পৌছে সদরঘাটের স্বামী বিবেকানন্দের প্রতিমূর্তির সামনে। মানুষ তাঁদের প্রাণপ্রিয় সন্ন্যাসীকে ফুল দিয়ে শ্রদ্ধা জানান। রামকৃষ্ণ মিশনের মহারাজরাও শোভাযাত্রায় অংশ নেন। এই শোভাযাত্রা আয়োজনে সহযোগিতার হাত বাড়িয়ে দেয় বিবেক বাহিনীর শিলচর শাখা। এই শোভাযাত্রায় সারদা সংঘ, অধরচাঁদ স্কুল, ডেফোডিলস স্কুল সহ অনেক স্কুল-কলেজের পড়ুয়া, বেসরকারি সংগঠনের সদস্যরা অংশগ্রহণ করেন।

পরে শোভাযাত্রা রামকৃষ্ণ মিশনে পৌছার পর স্বামীজির বাণী ও ভাষণ সম্বলিত বই পড়ুয়াদের হাতে তুলে দেওয়া হয়। শিলচর রামকৃষ্ণ মিশনের সম্পাদক গণধীশানন্দজি মহারাজ পড়ুয়াদের স্বামীজির আদর্শ মেনে চলে দেশ গঠনের আহবান জানান। এই অনুষ্ঠানে গরিবদের মধ্যে বিনামূল্যে কাপড় বিতরণ করা হয়। স্বামীজির আদর্শ ও তাঁর কথা মননে রেখে সন্ন্যাসীর আহবান, ‘ওঠো জাগো, এবং ততক্ষণ থামবে না, যতক্ষণ না তুমি লক্ষ্যে পৌছতে পারো।

September 11: Today is the 125th anniversary of the famous Chicago Speech delievered by Swami Vivekananda. In an era where India was left shackled by the atrocities of the rule we did not support, Swami Vivekanand won the heart of everyone with his speech. Point by point, he explained the significance of Indian religion, the legacy of India, our culture and Indian Philosophy. Social Media has been celebrating Swami Vivekananda’s speech at the World Parliament of Religion, Chicago in 1893 since morning. In fact, the Indian Prime Minister too addressed students across the nation from Vigyan Bhawan to mark the 125th anniversary of his monumental speech.

He played an important role in introducing Hinduism to the western world. His historic speech in Chicago on September 1893 delivered with crisp logic and scientific insight attracted major attention. The speech earned him a two-minute standing ovation from the present dignitaries and the title of ‘the cyclonic monk of India’. Though the speech was delivered 125 years ago it is relevant even today.

The day was celebrated in a befitting manner at Belur Math, the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Order founded by Swami Vivekananda. On the instruction of Velur Math, the day was also celebrated by Silchar Ramakrishna Mission. A fortnight long celebration has been chalked by the Belur Math which will be observed all throughout. A colourful rally was taken under the aegis of Ramakrishna Mission, Silchar from the Narsingtola Field. Vivek Vahini too lend its helping hand in organizing this rally.

The rally went through the major portions of the town and finally reached Silchar Mission. Many schools, colleges, NGOs, organizations, such as, Sarada Sangha, Adharchand HS School, Daffodils School etc. also participated in this rally. Also on the way, the statue of Swami Vivekananda at Sadarghat point was garlanded. People offered floral tribute to this great monk. The monks of Ramakrishna mission were also present in the rally.

At the Ramakrishna Mission, books containing the speech of Swami Vivekananda were distributed among the students. Ganibhisananda Maharaj, Secretary of Silchar Mission appealed to the youth to follow the ideal of Swami Vivekananda and to build a strong India. Free clothes were also distributed to the poor and needy on the occasion.  The monk urged the students to always remember what Swamiji said “Arise, Awake & stop not, till the goal is reached.”
