Youth beaten up on charges of ‘love-jihad’, FIR against Dilip Paul, complaint withdrawn

৩ সেপ্টেম্বরঃ এ বার নতুন বিতর্কে জড়িয়ে পড়ছিলেন শিলচরের বিধায়ক দিলীপকুমার পাল। তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে সোমবার সকালে শিলচর সদর থানায় মামলা হয়েছিল। অভিযোগকারী বালিঘাটের জাভেদ লস্কর। তাঁর অভিযোগ, লাভ জেহাদের মিথ্যা অভিযোগ এনে রবিবার তাঁকে অম্বিকাপট্টিতে মারধর করা হয়। দিলীপবাবুই কিছু যুবককে উস্কে দিয়েছেন। পরে অবশ্য তিনি নিজেই সেই মামলা প্রত্যাহার করে নেন। তাঁর বিরুদ্ধেও রবিবার একটি মামলা হয়েছিল। সোমবার শেষে দুটি মামলাই প্রত্যাহৃত হয়। দিলীপবাবু জানিয়েছেন, তিনি মামলার কথা জানতেন না। প্রত্যাহারের কথাও জানেন না। তবে রবিবার বাড়ি ফেরার পথে অম্বিকাপট্টিতে জটলা দেখে গাড়ি থেকে নামেন। ভিন্নধর্মীয় যুবক-যুবতী সংক্রান্ত অভিযোগ শুনেই পুলিশ ডেকে তাঁদের থানায় নিয়ে যেতে বলি।

September 3: Former Deputy Speaker & BJP MLA from Silchar Dilip Kumar Paul was implicated in a new controversy. On Monday morning, a complaint was lodged against him at Silchar Sadar Police Station. The complainant is Javed Lashkar from Balighat. He alleged that on the pretext of ‘love-jihad’, he was mercilessly thrashed by a group of men in the middle of a road at the instigation of MLA Dilip Kumar Paul. The incident took place at Ambicapatty on Sunday. However, the complaint was later on withdrawn by the boy himself.

A complaint was also lodged on Sunday against the boy. Finally, on Monday evening both the complaints were withdrawn. On being asked, MLA Dilip Kumar Paul said that he was unaware regarding the FIR lodged against him. He also did not know that the same was withdrawn. But he said that, when he was on the way to his home, he noticed a crowd near Ambicapatty. He stopped his car and enquired about the matter. On learning that the matter was regarding a boy and a girl belonging to two different religious communities, Mr. Paul called on the police and asked to take them to the police station.
