Please don’t retire now, Lata Mangeshkar appeals to Dhoni

July 11: There have been rumours that MS Dhoni might call it time on his international career after the end of India’s World Cup campaign. The 38-year old all rounder has been under fire for his ‘slow batting’ throughout the tournament, especially during the match with England in the 2019 World Cup tournament. Now with India’s World Cup hopes dashed and next series scheduled against West Indies, many are believing that Dhoni could make the announcement of hanging up his gloves anytime.

However, the ace sportsman has found support from an unusual quarter. Bharat Ratna award winner and one of the legends of the music industry in India, Lata Mangeshkar has asked the two-time World Cup winning captain to not retire and as India still need his expertise on field. Taking to twitter, Lata Mangeshkar urged upon Dhoni to erase from his mind any thoughts of retiring from the game.

Apart from Lata Mangeshkar, former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly also defended MS Dhoni’s approach in the semi-final. Dhoni has completed his 350 ODI matches at the age of 38. It needs mention here that MS Dhoni abruptly gave up his Test Match career in 2014.
