3 compartments of Silchar Trivandrum express gutted in fire at Silchar Railway station

June 9: A major fire burnt 3 coaches of Silchar Trivandrum Express train at Silchar Railway Station early in the morning. On Sunday morning fire broke out from a sleeper class just adjacent  to the pantry car of Silchar Trivandrum Express which was then at platform no 4 of the station.

Initially Railway staff tried to douse the fire with fire extinguishers. But very soon fire spread to two nearby compartments. As a result 3 compartments were gutted in the fire including the pantry car. Fire tenders also rushed to the spot. Fire officials have said that all the coaches of the train were locked and no passenger was inside the compartments when the fire broke out.

Investigation is on regarding the cause of the fire. However, no reports of any death or injury has been reported.
