পশ্চিম ত্রিপুরা আসনে ১২ মে ১৬৮ বুথে পুনরায় ভোটগ্রহণ
Re-poll to be held in 168 polling booths of Tripura on 12 May

৮ মে : নির্বাচন কমিশন পশ্চিম ত্রিপুরা লোকসভা আসনের ১৬৮টি বুথে পুনরায় ভোট গ্রহণের আদেশ দিয়েছে। এই কেন্দ্রগুলোতে আগামী ১২ মে ভোটগ্রহণ করা হবে। এই বুথগুলোতে ভোটকে কেন্দ্র করে অশান্তি, ছাপ্পা ভোট এবং নানাভাবে ভোটদান প্রক্রিয়া ব্যাহত হওয়ায় পুনরায় ভোটগ্রহণের দাবি জানিয়েছিল বিরোধী রাজনৈতিক দলগুলো।

পরবর্তীতে রাজ্যের মুখ্য নির্বাচন কমিশনার, বিশেষ পর্যবেক্ষক, সাধারণ পর্যবেক্ষক এবং রিটার্নিং অফিসারদের পাঠানো রিপোর্টের ভিত্তিতে এই বুথগুলোতে থাকা সিসিটিভি ফুটেজ দেখে নির্বাচন কমিশন ২৬নং পশ্চিম ত্রিপুরা লোকসভা আসনে ১৬৮টি ভোটগ্রহণ কেন্দ্রে পুনরায় ভোটের নির্দেশ দিয়েছে। এই বুথগুলোতে ১২ মে সকাল ৭টা থেকে বিকাল ৫টা পর্যন্ত ভোটগ্রহণ করা হবে।

প্রসঙ্গত গত ১১ এপ্রিল এই কেন্দ্রে রেকর্ড সংখ্যক ৮৫ শতাংশ ভোট পড়েছিল। সিপিএম ও কংগ্রেস দলের পক্ষ থেকে রাজ্যের মুখ্য নির্বাচন কমিশনারকে বেশ কিছু বুথ দখল ও ছাপ্পা ভোটের অভিযোগ তোলা হয়। এমনকি বিরোধী রাজনৈতিক দলগুলো ১৯ এপ্রিল পূর্ব ত্রিপুরা আসনে ভোট গ্রহণের আগে বুথ দখল, রিগিং, ছাপ্পা ভোট ইত্যাদির বিষয়ে সন্দেহ ব্যক্ত করে। প্রাথমিকভাবে সিপিএম পশ্চিম ত্রিপুরার ১৬৭৯টি আসনের মধ্যে ৪৬৬টি বুথে পুনরায় ভোটগ্রহণের দাবি জানিয়েছিল। কংগ্রেস প্রার্থী সুবল ভৌমিক বিজেপি কর্মীদের বিরুদ্ধে ভোটারদের ভোটদানের সময় ভয়ভীতি দেখানোর অভিযোগ তোলেন। তবে বিজেপির পক্ষ থেকে এসব অভিযোগ খণ্ডন করা হয়েছে।

May 8: Tripura West parliamentary seat had recorded around 85 per cent of voter turnout when the constituency went to polls on April 11. However, both opposition CPI-M and Congress complained of massive booth capturing and false voting to the CEO and also the ECI. It is on this backdrop that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered re-polling in 168 polling stations of 26 Assembly constituencies of Tripura (West) constituency on 12 May, 2019.

Along side the decision of re-poll, several polling officials including presiding officer and micro observer have been suspended on the ground of inappropriate reporting of polling process and a top police official at the level of ADGP and the returning officer has been replaced. The decision of re-poll was taken by the ECI on the basis of the reports submitted by CEO, the Special Observer, General Observer and the Returning Officer. Re-polling in the 168 Assembly constituencies will be held on 12 May from 7 AM to 5 PM.
