District Congress meets DC Cachar, express concern about deteriorating law & order situation

April 29: A delegation of Cachar District Congress Committee led by its President Pradip Kumar Dey met the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar Laya Madduri on Monday and expressed concern about the present law and order situation prevailing in Silchar. They referred to the incident which occurred near Silchar Goldighi Mall a few days ago, where a boy from minority community was badly harassed and tortured by miscreants.

Sariffujaman Laskar on behalf of the district Congress expressed doubt that a conspiracy is on to provoke a communal tension before the counting of Lok Sabha votes takes place on 23 May. Later on speaking to newsmen, Sanjeev Roy said that the Deputy Commissioner has given full assurance to the delegation that all precautionary measures will be taken to maintain peace and harmony and none will be allowed to disturb the tranquility in the district.

The delegation also assured full cooperation to the district admnistration in this regard. The delegation comprised of District Congress President Pradip Kumar Dey,  APCC Secretary Sanjeev Roy, Sariffujaman Laskar, Simanta Bhattacharjee, Sajal Das, Sajal Dev and Dinesh Kahar.
