Freelance scribe & Police constable arrested for circulating fake news on Tripura CM’s divorce

২৯ এপ্রিল : একটি ফেসবুক পোস্ট শেয়ার করার জন্য গ্রেফতার হতে হল এক সাংবাদিককে। একই অপরাধে পুলিশের এক কনস্টেবলকেও গ্রেফতার করা হয়েছে। এই ফেসবুক পোস্টটি ত্রিপুরার মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বিপ্লব দেবের সম্পর্কে। যাতে বলা হয়েছে, মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর স্ত্রী তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে বিবাহ বিচ্ছেদের মামলা দায়ের করেছেন।

গ্রেফতার হওয়া সাংবাদিক সৈকত তলাপাত্র ফ্রি-লেন্সার হিসেবে কাজ করেন। অ্যাসিস্ট্যান্ট ইন্সপেক্টর জেনারেল সুব্রত চক্রবর্তী জানিয়েছেন, তাঁকে গতকাল পশ্চিম আগরতলা থানায় রাখা হয়েছে।আইজিপি পুনীত রস্তোগী জানান, মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর সম্পর্কে ফেসবুক পোস্টটি শেয়ার করার জন্য পুলিশের কনস্টেবলকেও গ্রেফতার করা হয়েছে। তাদের দু’জনকে সোমবার আদালতে হাজির করা হয়। জার্নালিস্ট তলাপাত্র ফ্রি-লেন্সার হিসেবে কাজ শুরু করার আগে বিভিন্ন টিভি চ্যানেলে কাজ করেছেন।

 

প্রসঙ্গত, এই দু’জন অনুপম পালের একটি ফেসবুক পোস্ট শেয়ার করেছিলেন। ওই পোস্টে তিনি উল্লেখ করেন, মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বিপ্লব দেবের স্ত্রী নিতি দেব দিল্লির তিনহাজারি কোর্টে বিবাহ বিচ্ছেদের একটি মামলা দায়ের করেছেন। অনুপম পালের বিরুদ্ধে একটি মামলাও দায়ের করা হয়েছে। তবে তিনি পলাতক বলে পুলিশ জানিয়েছে। মুখ্যমন্ত্রী এই ফেসবুক পোস্টকে তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে এক গভীর ষড়যন্ত্র বলে উল্লেখ করেছেন। মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর স্ত্রীও বলেছেন, তিনি দিল্লিতে বিপ্লব দেবের বিরুদ্ধে কোনও ডিভোর্স মামলা দায়ের করেননি।

April 29: Police constable Jamal Hossain was arrested for sharing fake information on Facebook about chief minister Biplab Deb’s wife Niti Deb filing ‘divorce suit’ against the chief minister. Jamal Hossain, has also been placed under suspension following his arrest. Police also arrested a freelance journalist of Tripura, Saikat Talapatra on late Sunday evening on charges of being involved in circulating this fake information.

Earlier on April 28^th, 2019, a document purportedly about a divorce suit filed against Deb by his wife went viral on social media. The rumour was later busted as the CM’s wife Niti Deb said it was a ‘dirty rumour’ spread to earn brownie points in politics.An FIR was filed against one Anupam Paul, a Facebook user, for allegedly spreading the rumour. He was charged with forgery, defamation and criminal conspiracy. However, the accused is still at  loose.

“Rumors have no mouth ,,only dirty,filthy and sick minds generate for cheap publicity and mileage,,and importantly when paid high for spreading such dirty Rumors to gain political advantage against influencial people…otherwise who will follow these culprits… but sad part of it who people react and listen to these empty headed minds, with fake evidence, fake stories and pics used by such culprits,” Niti wrote on Facebook on April 26th, 2019. Advocate Ashwani Jha, whose name was mentioned in the document which went viral on Facebook, said that it was about a divorce suit filed by a man residing in Delhi with the Tis Hazari Court and has nothing to do with the Deb couple.
