NRC will be implemented if BJP forms the govt in Jharkhand : Chouhan

way2barak, 8 Oct : Union minister and BJP’s co-in-charge for assembly polls in Jharkhand, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, on Monday said National Register of Citizens (NRC) will be implemented if the party forms the govt in the state.

Accusing the Hemant Soren-led govt of appeasement politics, he said, “Bangladeshi influx has increased under the state govt patronage. Tribal population in Santhal Pargana has decreased from 44% to 28%. Hence, we will implement NRC to identify and throw out infiltrators.”

Aadhar cards of illegal immigrants are being made and names added to the voter list by the state govt for vote bank. The infiltrators are marrying tribal daughters and taking over their lands and resources. Our fight is to save the state’s roti, beti and mati,” he added.

Reacting to it, JMM’s Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji said, “They (BJP) tend to play divisive politics before every polls. But they won’t be successful here.”

Congress spokesperson Sonal Shanti said, “RSS and BJP should not try to make Jharkhand a laboratory of their communal thinking. BJP govt in Assam for the past eight years and at the Centre for the 10 years have been unable to stop infiltration into the country through Assam. Chouhan should first seek an answer from Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on the results of NRC? BJP is providing infiltrators a safe zone in Assam.”
