SMA ORGANIZES ONE DAY ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME in Assam University
way2barak, Nov 22: Silchar Management Association (SMA) organized a one-day Entrepreneurship Development Programme in collaboration with Incubation Centre, Assam University Silchar and Department of Business Administration, Assam University, Silchar.
The programme was held at the Bipin Ch Pal Seminar Hall, Assam University. Four eminent speakers, Suajata Dev, an author, economist and entrepreneur from Mumbai, Bhavesh Kothari, Entrepreneur and Startup mentor from Mumbai and Dr Tomojit Bhattacharjee, Jt. General Manager, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, Delhi along with Arindam Kar, entrepreneur from Silchar have graced the occasion as distinguished guests.
Almost 250 students from Department of Business Administration, Assam University, Guru Charan College, Cachar College and Ramanuj Gupta Degree College participated in the programme. The programme was divided into four sessions. In the inaugural session, Mr Vivek Poddar, Chairman, SMA delivered the welcome address and briefed the participants about the purpose and objective of the programme. Prof H. Ramananda Singh, Dean, J. N. School of management studies and Prof Arup Barman, Head, Department of Business Administration, Assam University offered insightful deliberation and inspired the participants highlighting the importance of organizing such programmes. At the end of the inaugural session, Dr Amit Kr Das, Secretary, SMA, delivered the vote of thanks.
The first session was engaged by Sujata Dev who shared her own life-experiences about how she broke the glass-ceiling of the society and overcome all the obstacles to become a successful entrepreneur. She shared with the students that it is only the strong conviction and solid determination which helped her to overcome all the challenges to become what she is today. Bhavesh Kothari narrated that how being a chemistry graduate and starting his career as a medical representative, he could dare to start something of his own and could chase his dream. In the third session, Dr Tomojit Bhattacharjee made a thorough deliberation on the scope of entrepreneurship in the digital space and how the students can penetrate the social media platform by creating good content and grab their own space to become a successful entrepreneur. In the post lunch session, Kothari conducted a workshop on how the beginners can initiate their own startup and what are the important things they should keep in mind to become a successful entrepreneur. He explained in detail various technicalities involved in the process of launching a startup. There was a panel discussion with the three speakers moderated by CA Anil Jain which involved discussion on the various aspects of launching one’s own startup and the opportunities and challenges of startup in North-East in general and Barak Valley in particular. There was intense discussion during the session and the students asked many questions demanding responses from the panelists. The session was assisted by Biswajit Paul. At the end of the programme, Arindam Kar, founder, Godfather restaurant, had a very brief session highlighting how, after completing his M. Tech from IIT, Kanpur, from a novice photographer, he became a successful entrepreneur. The entire programme was hosted jointly by Dr Juthika Konwar and Dr Nilanjana Chakraborty, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration, Assam University. At the end of the programme, Dr Kalyan Das delivered the vote of thanks. The programme came to an end with the National Anthem. Dr Amit Kumar Das, Secretary, Silchar Management Association expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the speakers, members of the association, teachers of the University and participating colleges, students and Assam University Administration for making the programme a grand success.
