Assam Police warns those indulging in stunt biking

way2barak, Dec.19: Police arrested five youths on Sunday for performing bike stunts on a busy highway in Hailakandi. The five youths of the stunt gang were identified as Noor Amin Laskar, Faqrul Islam Laskar, Abdur Rahman Laskar, Abdul Aziz and Iqbal Hussain Mazumdar.

Informing this, Hailakandi Superintendent of Police (SP) Nabaneet Mahanta said that such acts often results in major accidents wherein apart from causing injuries to passers by, they also injure themselves. Police infact tracked certain social media posts wherein the youths posted pictures of the bike stunts performed by them. Later, on the basis of the social media posts, they were nabbed and were also made to take down the posts. The police also informed their parents and asked them to keep a check on their children.

It needs mention here that a few days ago GP Singh, Special DGP Assam in a tweeter message stated, “People of Assam are requested to inform through Direct Message about any place or persons indulging in stunt biking on a regular basis. Such displays on Social Media platforms may also be brought to notice of Assam Police.”

Congratulating Dibrugarh Police, GP Singh further stated, “3 stunt bikers arrested and 2 sports bikes seized by Chabua PS. Stunts on public road are a hazard for public as well as rider. Ride responsibly, stay behind handle bars or seek thrills and stay behind bars. Choice is yours. We’ve to keep our roads safe.”

Stunt riding is gaining more and more followers every day. However, Motorcycle stunts are more dangerous because the rider only has two wheels to support him and there is always the danger of his head being heavily injured. Novices in the world or motorcycle riding and racing shouldn’t be allowed to do stunts that would endanger their safety and even their lives.
