Four members of banned group PFI arrested in Assam on Friday

way2barak, Oct.21: Based on specific information, Kamrup district police in Assam launched a search operation against the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) at several places in the Nagarbera area. Following the operation, four members of banned group PFI have been arrested on Friday by the police.

The 4 PFI members arrested on Friday were identified as:

  • Nazrul Islam, Vill Gagalmari
  • Rafikul Islam Vill. – Natun Badla
  • Hafijur Rahman Vill – Palahartari
  • Saiful Islam of Tukrapara Goroomari, Chaygaon

This was confirmed in a tweet by GP Singh, Special DGP Assam on Friday.

It needs mention here that last month, Assam Police arrested 25 Popular Front of India (PFI) leaders and activists from eight districts. Meanwhile, the Central government banned PFI, its associates, and affiliates as an unlawful association with immediate effect for a period of five years.
