A notice by AHSEC stating all exams of HS 1st year are cancelled due to flood is FAKE

May 21: Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) in a notification issued on 17 May, 2022 “suspended the ongoing HS First Year Examinations to be held between 18 May to 21 May, 2022 due to prevailing inclement weather and in view of damages being caused by the natural calamities in the state.” Further, in case of Dima Hasao, all examinations of HS 1st Year to be held from 18 May to 1st June were suspended until further order due to disruption of surface communication.

This particular notification issued by AHSEC was a much needed one due to the havoc caused by severe flood in many parts of the state.

However, another notification by AHSEC, with the issue date 20 May, 2022 started to be circulated in the social media platforms since the last two days. The notification contains the signature of Pankaj Borthakur, Controller of Examinations, AHSEC. The notification stated, “In continuation of this office earlier notification No AHSEC/EXB/II /47/18/19-20/269. It is notified for information of all concerned that the HS First Year Examination being conducted by AHSEC are cancelled due to prevailing inclement weather and in view of damages being caused by the natural calamities in the state.”

This particular notification issued on 20 May, 2022 soon spread like wild fire in the social media platforms. Even many teachers too got convinced and shared this on social media. However, way2barak when contacted the officials of AHSEC, it was informed that no such order was issued by them and that this particular notification is FAKE. This is indeed a crime to copy signature of officials and issue orders in their name. Again, such type of attempts also creates confusion among the students. The AHSEC needs to lodge police complaint and try to nab those who has created this FAKE notification.
