এনআরসি-ছুটদের ভোট চাই কি না স্পষ্ট করুন, পাল্টা চ্যালেঞ্জ সুস্মিতার

২১ জানুয়ারিঃ ২০১৯-এর লোকসভা ভোটের আগে এনআরসি চূড়ান্ত হচ্ছে না। ফলে ৪০ লক্ষ এনআরসি-ছুটের সবাই এ বারও ভোট দেবেন। তাঁদের কার কার ভোট কোন কোন দলের লাগে না, তা স্পষ্ট করতে পাল্টা চ্যালেঞ্জ ছুঁড়ে দিলেন শিলচরের কংগ্রেস সুস্মিতা দেব। তাঁর সোজা কথা, যাদের তাড়াতে চাইব, তাঁদের ভোটও চাইব, এ কী রকম কথা!

নাগরিকত্ব বিল ইস্যুতে হিন্দুত্ববাদীরা তাঁর কুশপুতুল পোড়াচ্ছে, মুসলমান যুবকদের একাংশ তাঁকে কালো পতাকা দেখিয়েছে। হিন্দুত্ববাদীদের বক্তব্য, তিনি নাগরিকত্ব বিলের বিরোধিতা করে লোকসভা থেকে ওয়াকআউট করেছিলেন। মুসলমানদের অভিযোগ, তিনি বিল বিরোধিতায় অসমের অন্য চার কংগ্রেস সাংসদের পাশে দাঁড়াননি। সকলের বক্তব্য, তিনি বিলের পক্ষে না বিপক্ষে, তা স্পষ্ট করা হোক।

জবাবে সুস্মিতাদেবী আজ বলেন, এই ইস্যুতে তাঁর অবস্থান একেবারে স্পষ্ট। এনআরসি-র শুরুতে যে কথা বলেছেন, যৌথ সংসদীয় কমিটিতেও তা-ই বলেছেন। আজও তিনি এক জায়গায়। ২০১৪ সালের ভোটার তালিকার ভিত্তিতে সবাইকে নাগরিকত্ব প্রদান করা হোক। তাঁর যুক্তি, যাঁরা তাঁকে ভোট দিয়ে লোকসভায় পাঠিয়েছেন, তাঁরা বিদেশি হতে পারেন না। তাঁর বক্তব্যের সমর্থনে তিনি লোকসভার এক প্রশ্নোত্তর তুলে ধরেন। জ্যোতিরাদিত্য সিন্ধিয়া ও তিনি প্রশ্ন করেছিলেন, অসমের ২০১৪ সালের ভোটার তালিকায় কত বিদেশি রয়েছেন। জবাবে নির্বাচন কমিশনকে উদ্ধৃত করে জানানো হয়েছিল, ভোটার তালিকায় একজনও বিদেশি নেই। এরই সূত্র ধরে তিনি দাবি করেন, তাহলে তাঁদের  সবাইকে নাগরিকত্ব প্রদান করা হোক।

January 21: The National Register of Citizens (NRC) is not going to be finalised before the Lok Sabha Polls of 2019. As such, those 40 lakh people whose names were excluded from the final draft of NRC published on 30 June 2018 will cast their votes in the ensuing Parliamentary elections. In this regard MP Sushmita Dev threw a challenge before all aspiring candidates. She said, “Let it be clear for once and all. Let the aspiring candidates of ensuing Lok Sabha Polls or the political parties or organisations state clearly if they do not require the votes of those excluded from the final draft of NRC.She said, “We seek votes from those persons whom we want to drive out? How can such contradictory dualism be accepted?”

On the issue of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, the Hindus are burning her effigy on the ground that she walked out from the Lok Sabha along with her party members when the bill was debated. On the other hand, a section of the Muslims are showing black flags to her because she did not protest along with the other 4 Congress MPs in the premises of Parliament. All wants to know whether she is in favour or against the bill.

In reply, Miss Dev said that her position is totally clear. She said that her view on NRC has not undergone any change. She exhibited the same stand even before the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). Speaking on this issue, she replied that she is firm on her stand. Miss Dev said, “Citizenship should be accorded on the basis of the voter list of 2014. She cited the logic that those who voted for her and sent her to the Parliament cannot be foreigners. She cited a particular question asked in Lok Sabha in support of her view. She said that she and Jyotiraditya Scindhia raised a question in the Lok Sabha. They asked- How many foreigners were there in the voter list of 2014? In reply, the Election commission was quoted to have said that in the voter list of 2014, there was not a single foreigner. Citing this instance, she demanded that all those people whose names were there in the voter list of 2014 should be granted citizenship.
