Assam govt considering construction of alternative road leading to Kamakhya temple

May 11: Situated on a hilltop on the Nilachal hills in Guwahati, Kamakhya Temple is one of the most revered out of all 51 Shakti Peethas in India. The the temple of Goddess Kamakhya is motorable, yet the state government is exploring ways and means to develop alternative roads leading to the temple. The prime aim of the government is to make the temple more accessible to divyang devotees.

It is in this connection that a review meeting was held in Guwahati, which was chaired by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma. Experts on the subject gave a power point presentation in this connection. Senior officials and Dolois of the temple also participated in the review meeting.

Later on, taking to his twitter handle, CM Dr Sarma wrote, “Reviewed matters regarding development of alternative routes/roads leading to Maa Kamakhya temple, in a meeting with experts, senior officials and Dolois of the temple. Also deliberated on possible measures for making the temple more accessible to divyang devotees.”
