Cachar College to conduct Students’ Union election on 11 March, issues notification

March 3: Due to the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic, life almost came to a standstill since 2020. All sorts of activities including academic and co-curricular in physical mode remained suspended for a long time. As educational institutions too were shut for a considerable period, election to students’ union were also not conducted. However, as the Covid restrictions were relaxed, normalcy is gradually returning back. As such, Principal of Cachar College, Silchar, Dr SS Nath on 28 February issued the official notification for conduct of election to the office bearers to the “Executive Council of Cachar College Students’ Union” for the session 2021-22.

It needs mention that though curtains will fall on the academic year 2021-22 very soon, yet the college authority decided to conducted the students’ union election in the month of March. As per the election notification, the poll to the students body of Cachar College will take place on 11 March, 2022. The process of casting of votes will begin at 9 AM and end at 12.30 PM.

The posts for which the elections will be conducted are President and Vice-President (reserved for 5th semester), General Secretary (reserved for TDC students), Deputy General Secretary (reserved for HS classes), Secretary & Asstt Secretary- Ladies Section (reserved for girl students of any class, to be elected exclusively by girl students). The rest posts are Editor College Magazine, Secretary Sports, Asstt Secretary Sports, Secretary Music & Drama Club, Asstt Secretary- Music & Dramatic Club, Secretary Debating Club, Secretary Boy’s Common Room, Asstt Secretary Boys’s Common Room, Secretary Book Bank and Asstt Secretary,Book Bank. These posts are open for all classes.

The nomination papers will be distributed to the interesting contestants from 2nd to 4th March, 2022.The submission of nomination papers will take place on 3rd, 4th and 5th March from 11 AM to 3 PM at Room No 23, make shift office of Election Cell of the college. The nomination papers will be scrutinised on 5 March in the same day at 5 PM, the list of valid nomination papers will be submitted.
