Delinking of HS from colleges to begin from 2022-23; Only UG & PG to be taught in colleges: Ranoj Pegu

Feb. 17: It has been a long standing proposition to delink Class 11 & 12 (Higher Secondary) from the colleges of Assam, but this could not be achieved in reality. However, with the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020, major changes will now be gradually be rolled out in the educational set up. From 2022-23, Higher Secondary (HS) will be delinked in a phase manner from the colleges of Assam.

This was stated by State Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu in Thursday. He further added that post-delinking of HS, the colleges will only impart lessons for under graduate (UG) and post graduate (PG) courses. On the issue of NEP 2020, he said, “We have already started the implementation of new education policy in the state. The new education policy is a broad framework of a new education system under which we have already notified that our Directorate of School Education will be of two school education in elementary education and secondary education.”
