289 detected Covid positive in Cachar on Sunday, 205 discharged & 1 death at SMCH

There are 1,622 active cases in Cachar

Jan. 16: The number of coronavirus cases in Cachar district is gradually increasing. The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Sunday at 7.40 PM. As per the latest data, the daily Covid count in Cachar crossed the 200-mark on Sunday. A total of 289 persons were found positive in the district on 16 January. Also, 205 patients were discharged (184 from hospital & 21 from home) during the day. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has reached 1,622 out of which, 1,455 are in home isolation whereas 167 are admitted in various hospitals of the district. On Saturday, 248 persons were found positive in Cachar.

As per the updated data, a total of 1,159 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 164 persons were found positive, whereas 125 were detected positive out of 294 RT-PCR Tests. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 Jan 2022 reached 2,283 whereas during this phase, 656 patients were discharged. This data was provided by the district health department from 12 noon of 15 January to 12 noon of 16 January, 2022. Further, a total of 5 persons died due to Covid in Cachar this year.

There has been a gradual rise in the number of daily positive cases in Cachar district. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 15 January to 5 PM on 16 January) witnessed the death of 01 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Sunday evening.

The deceased identified as Lukman Ali Laskar (58) from Lakhipur in Cachar tested Covid positive and was admitted at SMCH on 08 January (1.19 PM). The patient, however, breathed his last at 11.45 AM on 16 January, 2022.He was suffering from diabetes, hypertension and chronic kidney diseases. Prior to this, another Covid patient, Jahura Begum (49) from Ward No. 22, Silchar died at SMCH on 11 January.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 16 January, there were 32 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College. Further, 03 patients were put under ventilator support, and 13 in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 07 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 08 were discharged.
