Transport dept to become fully automated by 31 March: CM Assam
Jan. 1: Transport Department of the state has done a very good job in enhancing the overall transparency in its functioning. Aadhar based learner licence, renewal of driving license, duplicate license- all these services are now offered online. Till now, 3,50,000 persons have benefited from the new initiative of the state transport department. This was stated by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma during a special interactive session with journalists at State Guest House, Koinadhora, Guwahati on Saturday.
The Chief Minister said that by the next month, 7 more services related to transport department apart from Aadhar based learner licence, renewal of driving license, duplicate license will get converted into online platform. People will no longer need to the office of DTO for availing these services. They can very well sit within the comfort of their homes and get their work done online. These 7 new services which will be made online are transfer of vehicles, hypothetication, no-objection certificate, change of address, duplicate registration and international driving permit.

He also announced that by 31 March, 2022, the state transport department will become fully automated. From then, none will require to visit the office of the DTO.
