Kolkata youth all in praises of Taliban after fleeing from Afghanistan, gets trolled in social media

"If all is so well under Taliban regime, then why did you come back to India?" Twitterati

Aug. 24: A youth from Kolkata who was in a teaching profession fled away with his life to India after the Taliban militants captured Afghanistan. He was rescued and brought back to India in an Indian Air Force flight earlier this week. However, while narrating his experience in Afghanistan post-Taliban capture, the youth was all in praises of the Taliban militia. Netizens have trolled the youth in social media platforms and wrote, “If all is so well under Taliban regime, then why did you come back to India?”

The youth while addressing the media at his house in Kolkata said, “There is no problem at all in Kabul. All shops, market places are operating quite normally. Rather, I have seen that previously when we used to eat ‘Nan & Kebab’ (@Rs.150 per plate), the shop owners used to give less quantity per plate, but now after the Taliban has taken over, the food quantity per plate has doubled though the price has remain unchanged. As the Taliban are following strict Sariat laws, so they allow none to be fooled scrupulously. Even law and order situation in Kabul has changed for the better after the capture of the country by the Taliban. As because, the Talibans are religious minded people, so they are doing well and have done a wonderful job.”

Narrating his experience of returning back to India, the youth said, “It was the Talibans who gave us cent percent security before we entered the airport. It’s not the Taliban militants who were shooting but it were rather the Americans inside the airport. The Talibans took proper care, gave us fresh food, water and even escorted us and dropped at the airport.”

When asked by a journalist about the condition of women under Taliban regime, the youth said, “Those who were not there in Afghanistan cannot say exactly what is going on there. I am from the ground zero. Women are absolutely allowed to attend their work. Even I had many female highly qualified colleagues at the institution where I worked, they are still working. The only thing is that the female needs to wear a hizab. Women are working in banks and many other such places.”

Tamal Bhattacharjee, the 34-year-old resident of Nimta in the North Dum Dum area, was stranded in Afghanistan ever since the Taliban took control of the country. He had been working as a physics and chemistry teacher at an army school (Kardan International school) in Kabul since March this year. A mechanical engineer by training, Tamal was living in the staff quarters of his school. However, after the Taliban took over the city of Kabul, he was forced to lock himself up inside the principal’s residence. While speaking to Anandabazaar Patrika, he said, “Please Modiji, Amit Shah der apna ra bolun, jate amader kotha bhebe druto kono bebosta kora hoi (Please inform PM Modi and Amit Shah so that immediate action is taken for our evacuation). But following his return to his home in Kolkata from Afghanistan, Tamal suddenly became a die hard fan of the Taliban and showered lavish praises upon them.

In his around 5 minutes interview, the youth identified as Tamal Bhattacharjee to various television channels in Kolkata, the Bengali youth appeared more a spokesperson of Taliban than an Indian who fled away from Afghanistan with his life in an Indian Airforce plane! “When citizens of Afghanistan are themselves criticising Taliban for their harsh regime, our Indian brother was publicly advertising that Afghanistan under their rule has become much better. Brother, so why are you back. Please go back from India,” wrote a Facebook user. Another twitterati wrote, “A person stuck in Kabul desperately sends distress calls. Urges PM to make arrangements to evacuate him. Pic 2: Once landed in Kolkata, he has all praises for #Talibans. Even said they played football.” Another user lamented, “It is important to keep people like him under surveillance. One who supports terrorists is not less than a terrorist. People like him (Tamal) are dangerous for this nation.”
