Is it Biplab Dev vs Sushmita Dev in Tripura in 2023? TMC leader Sushmita says ‘It’s just speculation’

Aug 18: Since the resignation of Sushmita Dev from the Indian National Congress, initially there were speculations that she might join the saffron brigade. However, within hours she surprised all by joining All India Trinamool Congress. Since then, loud whispers could be heard in the political corridors about TMC finding a new face in Sushmita Dev for capturing political power in Tripura during the forthcoming Assembly elections in 2023. Many have even speculated that the 2023 Tripura polls will witness a direct fight between Sushmita Dev of TMC and Biplob Kumar Deb of BJP for the post of Chief Minister.

However, when Susmita Dev confronted such a question on Wednesday in Delhi, she said, “There is no such decision about Tripura at all. This is just a speculation. I have joined TMC just 24 hours ago and you people have reached Tripura!” She, however, added, “The next 10 to 15 days are very crucial, where there will be discussion as regards what to do. There has been no discussion on any state in particular. Yes, the agreement is unconditional joining and working for Trinamool Congress organisation.”
